Like other reviewers, some of the bars that I’ve purchased on almost burnt on the bottom. But I love these bars and I would think that Kashi could easily fix the “too done” problem. I can no longer find this flavor at my local grocery store although the 2 new flavors are available. I don’t like the new flavors as much as I like the banana-chocolate chip bars.
This is the worst Kashi product I have tasted! The only reason I tried it was because I had a $1 coupon for this specific product….which I forgot to even use…ugh! These were so gross. After the first bite I put it down in disgust. I felt bad throwing it away, so instead I tried heating it up in the microwave, which helped a little. I will never buy these again. Giving the rest of the box away to see if someone else will like them. =(
Taster awful and burnt!
Taste like chemicals or something. VERY GROSS! My husband spit his out. Don’t know what to do with the rest, can’t even feed to the dogs because of the chocolate.
Its funny to see that others found the bars to be burnt, mine were too! Anyone who has baked knows what a burnt cookie looks like. BUT we did keep the box, as to not waste money. They were not bad but they were not good, we will skip next time.
On their own, I found these to be dry and not very banana-y. But we cut one in half, put it in the microwave for a few seconds, then put some banana slices between them and eat them as a kind of banana-cookie sandwich. Kids love em!
No flavor. Very dry. Wish I would have read the reviews before buying. Bought because I love soft bars, chocolate and banana. It was soft, barely any banana or chocolate flavor and was so dry I threw the box away.
I put this is my cart, then saw it has 10g sugar. Back on the shelf right away.
These were the nasty things I ever ate. Doesn’t even taste like banana or chocolate chip. It taste burnt and dry with a black licorice taste. They are gross
Every bar in the box I purchased is burnt — I’d post a photo if I could. The bottom is very dark and the edges are actually black. I ate half of the first one not knowing what to expect, but I pitched the other half because it tasted awful. Out of curiosity, I opened them all. Every single one is burnt. Beyond that—-as other reviewers have commented-—the bars taste oddly artificial, very dry, and super sweet (and I like sweet things!). There’s nothing “homemade” or banana-y about the taste. I have called to see if I can get my money back or a coupon for another unrelated Kashi product, but no one has been available to take my call (they’re all at ‘training’?).

thought these were delicious! I usually buy nutrigrain-like bars for a mid-morning snack but find them small and too sweet. These were bigger and had more of a cake-like texture. And they weren’t too sweet! They had the perfect amount of banana flavor and had a little bit of crisp on top. They’re the perfect healthy snack! I love them!

They are nasty it taste like I am chewing on an old coffee filter please take them off the market
I usually like Kashi products but I have to say these bars are quite bad. Overcooked, dry and artificial tasting. Unfortunately I bought a multi pack and will probably suffer through them as I hate to waste money.
These are so perfect! Tastes like homemade banana nut bread. Really satisfies for between meal snack, calorie count is just right and the ingredient list is exciting, so much nutrition in a yummy snack. Kashi you got it right with this one!
These bars are disgusting! They don’t resemble bananas in any way, except for the crunchy pieces that have a chemical/imitation flavor. And the bars are so dry it was hard to even swallow a mouthful. I even checked the date on the box thinking they must have gone bad. Will NOT be purchasing these again!
I absolutely enjoy every cereal and snack bar I have tasted of your EXCEPT the banana chocolate chip bars. I couldn’t even get rid of them at work. Flavorless, cardboardy and no taste of banana….you need a new recipe. this one is burning you.
I really like these bars and have bought many boxes. But today I was eating one, breaking off pieces. I luckily noticed before I ate it that there was white fuzzy mold growing on one side of the bar. I threw it out and opened another one, it had some too! So, beware before eating these…

these are chewy as stated and rubbish in taste. Its got a burnt bread taste to it and has a banana perfume aroma with the chocolate chips that do nothing for it. I thought it might be just the one, but turns out, after a bite of 3 more in the box; all rubbish. perhaps a change in the dough recipe might help?

Don’t love the crispy rice? in them nor do I love that the bottoms are so dark, perhaps burnt. Looking at most reviews America doesn’t love them, hopefully they will end up at the 99cents store..more for me ! yay !
This tasted terrible. Nothing like banana and chocolate didn’t help. the texture is good, but that’s it. The packaging sucked me in – won’t ever buy these again!
These sounded yummy. I bought a multi pack (15 total bars). They tasted burned and were very disappointing. Worse yet is the $8.00 I wasted on them. I can’t even give these away with a clear conscience.
I love these bars. There are only 130 calories and they taste terrific. I only bought one box and I am going back to the store to buy what is on the shelf.
I really wanted to like these. They just have a really bitter, artificial taste. The only product from Kashi that has disappointed :(
Burnt and very, very dry!!
I purchased these bars because bananas and chocolate is a combination I can’t resist. Unfortunately when I opened a bar it was burnt. I didn’t know if maybe it was just really dark due to the dark wheat flour used so I tried it. It was very bitter tasting and so dry. This is not at all what I expected from Kashi. I now have four other bars I don’t plan on eating because I’m afraid they’re all the same way. Just awful!
Needs more chocolate. I love the flavor of banana and chocolate but this only taste like banana.
I thought these would have real chocolate chips but they have chocolate like crunchies. Dry Dry Dry. Bring on the banana!
most bars were burnt BLACK and tasted really bitter!
5 bars out of two boxes I’ve purchased were BURNT! It had bitter taste to it and the bars were BLACK instead of golden brown you see on the packaging. Whoever is making these bars must be half asleep while making most of these. I will NEVER buy this product again- awful quality control.
these bars are great! although I was surprised to see that the first ingredient was apple puree. eithter way these are a great snack! Sometimes I think people are expecting products to taste like dessert. You cant have it both ways people. I wanted a healthy snack that taste good and that exactly what I got :)
I would be lying if I told you this tasted like a moist, decadent slice of chocolate chip banana bread. But as far as I am concerned, it has a decent taste and good nutritional value. Warm it in the microwave for a few seconds, close your eyes, and give it a little imagination.

I didn’t like the taste at all. It was a chemical type taste that I couldn’t put my finger on. I looked at the ingredients trying to identify the weird taste. My kids disliked it very much. It was a great idea, but I wouldn’t buy these ever again. Wish I could return the ones I bought.
We all hated how those bars taste like.
I keep seeing all these comments about them tasting burnt. They taste burnt because they are burnt at least the ones I bought. The are literally almost black on the bottom. There are more than likely quality control issues here. I am calling Monday and will be returning these.

It’s a little on the bitter side for me.. It honestly reminds me of a desert from military rations (Meals Ready to Eat).

I hadn’t found a Kashi item that I didn’t love, till I tried these bars. OMGosh they are the worse tasting things ever. I’ve seen several reviews that state they are an “aquired taste” sorry, can’t get past the first bite to aquire much of anything other than revoltion! I grew up on homemade, with organic ingrediants, banana bread and this is such a far cry from it it’s sad! They are dry, they have a burnt, and bitter after taste. they smell nothing like banana bread. They are just plain nasty. Sorry Kashi a rare miss in these

It says these Soft n’ Chewy Bars are banana and chocolate chip flavored, but the ingredients don’t list anything banana. At least not at the top of the list where it should be. The first ingredient is actually apple puree concentrate! Misleading title Kashi… They should also take the almond flour out.
I tried these Banana Chocolate chip bars and they taste awful; like a burned cookie
with fake banana flavor; and there are only 1 or 2 chocolate chips in it.
I am bringing them back to the store to get my money back. They are very expensive and I can’t afford to loose out on them. I think that if they made the soft cookie
devil food chocolate with the chocolate chips on top, and no nausiating banana chips on top it would have tasted 100% better!
Very disappointed in this product. I took 2 bites and had to throw it out. I usually like all of Kashi’s products so I was surprised at how awful it tasted. I wish I could give the rest to the folks on here that say they loved it. Thumbs down for me Kashi!
You should of took them back to the store. Throwing them out seems so wasteful…
This is the very 1st time that I’ve tried a product from Kashi. I wish I could say how much I love this product, but that would be a lie. I love banana bread, and this tasted nor smelled nothing like it. I only took one bite of the bar and it tasted exactly the way cigarette tobacco smells. I originally planned to let my niece and nephews snack on these, but I’m not going to make them eat something that I won’t even eat. I have one more product that I bought by Kashi. I hope it tastes better than this one, ore they both will be in the trash can. This was defiantly a waste of my money!
You could take them back to the store so that you won’t waste your money. I really hope you like your next product from Kashi because their ingredients are really healthy, but sometimes misleading like this product :(
I love how these bars are slightlly sweet but not too overpowering.I also love the texture, you get an unexpected crunch while biting into these tasty treats. These are my go to snack of choice! They are the perfect treat to satisfy your sweet tooth without feeling guilty.
The bar itself smelled like burnt bananas,and it hardly had the taste of banana bread. It had a funky burned-fake-banana aftertaste and hardly any chocolate chips. Tried heating it up to see if it would taste better, but did no good. Peanut butter made it remotely appealing, but I would not buy these again.

I absolutely love these bars! I must admit that I wasn’t sure how I felt after eating the first one, but by the 2nd or 3rd bar, I was completely hooked. I love the taste, the texture…everything. I’ve noticed that sometimes they look burned, as some have mentioned, but the taste has never been anything but good. I found them first in my local BJs store, but was distressed that they were there for only about a month or less. One little box at a time just doesn’t do it for me :) Please keep them coming (and get them back at BJs if possible). Yum.
I LOVE these bars! I have always loved the combination of banana and chocolate, but the banana in bars like this usually tastes artificial. Not so with these. I will agree that they could have more banana taste, but I love them anyway. I have never noticed any burnt or bitter aftertaste to these and I have a sensitive palate. I found these in my local Target a few times but lately I’m not finding them there anymore. I might have to scope out the supermarkets now that I’m hooked but I hate paying more.
I love these bars and always buy them at Target, as they are cheaper there. Unfortunately, it seems every single time I go there to buy them, they are out of stock, but, all of the other Kashi products are fully stocked. This weekend, I went to three different Targets in the NE Philly area and a Wegman’s and there were no Banana Choc. chip bars to be found and yet again, plenty of other Kashi products were overflowing. Why are they so difficult to keep in stock?! I’m about ready to give up and move on to another brand.

The combo of banana and chocolate sounds so good…but I was disappointed by this bar. It has a weird tangy after-taste and it doesn’t even taste like theres chocolate chips in it. Its a shame that this is the only soft n’ chewy bar kashi offers too.
I found these to be very disappointing, I love banana and these just tasted bad to me. They were almost bitter and tasted and looked burnt. The texture was fine but they had an almost unripe banana smell. Not good and definitely not going to buy these again.
I think these bars are delicious. I want to buy more, but can’t find them in the stores anymore. I will try one more supermarket tonight. I thought maybe they were discontinued. I’m glad to see them on this site and that they still make them.

My 2 year old son loves these and I am glad they taste pretty good and have 1/2 a serving of veggies. We buy them often, however, the last two batches were burnt on the bottom! Whats up with that? They also tasted less flavorful and dry. I am unsure whether I should buy more since I havent even heard any acknowledgment of this and a future fix. So disappointing!
I am so surprised to see roughly 50% of the members that have rated this bar didn’t love it! This is the greatest food discovery we (hubby and I) have ever made! Other Kashi bars are great and all, but there is something so satisfying about foods that are soft and chewy. We also love the flavor, it’s just sweet enough :)
I really enjoy these bars. Love the nutrition content (not too many calories/fat, high fiber/protein) and enjoy having them as part of my breakfast. The texture is great, but I agree with some of the post below that the taste could use a little refining. My husband doesn’t like them at all.
I am hooked on these things! I have an awful time finding them in stock though so I usually buy two or three boxes at a time so I don’t run out. I’ve been trying to eat more healthy and was so happy to find that I actually love these being the picky eater that I am.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE this snack bar!!!I agree with Geri, it is an acquired taste at first, once you eat a few you will be HOOKED!! I bring the box to work and i got everybody eating them!! I Love Kashi products!! My pantry at home is stocked with nothing but Kashi <3
