Though many Kashi products are excellent, their latest innovation is in trying to sneak price increases on the consumer by reducing product size while maintaining per-item price. I spoke to one of their customer service people recently about this phenomenon and they admitted that they had reduced the volume of most cereals by 8-9% while maintaining the same per-box cost, but denied that this represented a price increase! Come one Kashi, at least call a spade a spade; consumers are not the idiots you think they are.

The protein level is a big reason why this has become my preferred cereal. Haven’t found anything else like it.

Studies show GMO foods are BAD- linked to sterility, kidney disease, liver disease, amongst too many other problems to name! I can’t believe I’ve eaten Kashi all these years thinking I was avoiding GMO. Shame on you for your deceit, and shame on me for not researching what “all natural” actually means, which is NOTHING. http://www.responsibletechnology.org/ Read and STOP BUYING GMO! I know I won’t be purchasing ANYTHING Kashi until they cut it out of their ingredients. Shame on you.

Please cite the actual scientific papers of the studies you mention!
It doesn’t look like genetically modified foods have not been shown to be dangerous – there are only theories. There is no scientific proof for them.

WARNING, WARNING, WARNING – DO NOT EAT KASHI CEREALS UNLESS YOUR GOAL IS FOR DETERIORATING OVERALL HEALTH!!!
GMO products, which kashi cereals contain, are not recognized by the human body and can cause many diseases including cancer. Return all your kashi cereals to the store immediately as I am doing today and AGAIN DO NOT EAT ANY KASH CEREALS. Kashi has been lying to you for years by not staing that they use GMO ingredients on their package and stating that it is a natural, healthy cereal when they in FACT know it is not healthy. SHAME ON YOU KASHI – May you quickly go out of business as this word spreads!!!

I just learned that all kashi cereals contain GENETICALLY MODIFIED INGREDIENTS. This is absolutely pathetic and Kashi has been lying to the customers by not labeling their products having GMO ingredients. Also, Kashi has ingredients from CHINA (Cheap China Crap) the most polluting country on the planet. Shame on you Kashi. I will be spreading this word vehemently to all I know including the media and will NO longer purchase any of your products. CC

Agree, I use to eat A LOT of it… every day for years … But I found more of the dangers of SOY. Love this serious but wish it was not GMO soy. I’d LOVE to come back to go-lean.

I just read about the GMO soy in Kashi GoLean. I am horrified, all this time I thought I was eating healthy. I also eat the other cereals, granola bars and crackers that Kashi makes. Do they also use GMO soy? I feel sick….

I mix Heart to Heart cereal with a bit of the Go Lean. As a combo, it is great together and keeps the sweetness down. Go Lean on it’s own is too sweet. My 3 year old daughter loves the “sticks” only in the Go Lean – would love if Kashi just made a “sticks” only cereal! She thinks the other parts are too sweet. I mix Heart to Heart cereal and the sticks for her and she loves it.

Is GoLean Original really that much sweeter than Heart To Heart? GoLean has one more gram of sugar per serving than Heart To Heart yet it has 20 more calories per serving, which suggests that on a per calorie basis, GoLean should be less sweet than Heart To Heart because it has less sugar per calorie. Perhaps there are other sweeteners besides sugar in GoLean that give it that extra sweetness.

I just found out that the soy in this cereal is from a 100 percent GMO crop. This makes me sad, because I’ve been eating it 5 days a week, for like a year. I’ve noticed an overall decline in my health, in terms of energy levels, skin tone, etc. GMO crops are highly dangerous. If you want to learn more, go to www.mercola.com. Nancy

I eat Kashi Go Lean Original for breakfast and then snack on some dry Kashi for an evening snack. It’s even better with a sprinkle of cinnamon!
Has anyone had any luck losing weight with Kashi? I’m trying to cut out simple carbs and saturated fats. Kashi leaves me feeling full and I’m hoping that this will help with weight loss. I like to carry a baggie of Kashi with me, along with a few almonds, in case of an emergency hunger attack—-it does the trick! I love the protein in it because I don’t really care for eggs in the morning. Great product—Thanks!

I have been a long time Kashi users but I just tried Kashi GoLean Crisp. I didn’t like it, it just was way too sweet. I believe the people that use your cereal are like me, don’t want alot of sugar. In fact, we are trying to eliminate it from our foods. Toasted Berry Crumble isn’t a fit – didn’t finish the box.

I love all your cereals and breakfast waffles! I’d really like if you guys introduced a new “super” cereal like the original GoLean just to keep people interested. Please think about it! Kashi cereal is a part of my every day, and I have it at least once a day for either breakfast, lunch, or dinner!

Why is Kashi not willing to list all the ingredients, the listing of “natural flavors” (something listed on many processed foods) is something I will point out to all my family and friends and tell them to avoid all Kashi products. Most likely this flavor is produced in the flavor factories in NJ and are not natural as advertised. Furthermore, why do you feel the need to add cane juice twice as well as honey. I find this cereal to be way too sweet. Let people glob on the sweetner of their choice if they need to add sweetners. 90% of the soy out there is man made and something that is not good for you. People in Japan eat about two teaspoons of fermented soy, not the globs of soy shoved down the throats of North America

Very filling, tastes great with some blueberries and raisins

Wish you’d make an organic version. GMOs, hexane rinsed soy protein and I don’t get along very well :(

I recently tried this cereal and LOVE it! The nutritional stats are FABULOUS (13 grams of filling protein, 10 grams of fiber, and only 140 cals) and it tastes delicious! There is just enough sweetness so I don’t even have to add Splenda. I like my cereal topped with fresh blueberries and a few almonds! Yummm :)

I used to be a real fan of Kashi products until I realized how misleading your advertising is. You talk a big game about “7 whole grains on a mission,” and “natural,” “whole,” foods, but you neglect to inform us that a significant portion of the ingredients in many of your products are likely genetically modified. Even if you don’t care about GMOs, this particular cereal (and probably others) lists “soy protein” as an ingredient, which, for the uninformed, is acquired by using a hexane solvent. That’s right, hexane, which is a byproduct of gasoline refining, a neurotoxin and a hazardous air pollutant. Yuck. It’s really unfortunate, because I really did like this cereal. I wish you’d put your money where your mouth is and step up the quality of your ingredients to match what you’re saying. Until you do, I’ll be buying my cereals from companies that do.

soy protein is actually a great source of protein.. and this cereal happens to be one of the healthiest choices, the fiber plus the protein and the whole grains that one gets in a serving of this is amazing! No need to question Kashi’s beliefs.=)
-
jen999 almost 2 years agoActually MountainBreez, soy protein, unless it’s organic, is almost always processed using hexane, which personally, I don’t want anywhere near something I’ll be eating. Even though Kashi says it is completely rinsed out and the FDA doesn’t have proof that it’s unsafe, there’s also no proof that it IS safe, which should be the real way of evaluating food products (that’s how it’s done in Europe). For more info, just google “soy protein hexane” or check out this report from the Cornucopia institute: http://www.cornucopia.org/2010/11/hexane-soy/ Even if it is okay to ingest every now and then, the environmental aspect is another deterrent for me. Go ahead and enjoy your Kashi cereal, but until they come up with an organic version or one made without hexane processed soy protein, I’m staying away :)

Trying all 4 of the Kashi cold cereals and have a Q about the calorie count(s). They seem a bit low if you do the calculation by hand … for example a serving of GoLean Original has a listed calorie count of 140/serving but if you add up the protein (13g x 4 cal/g) + carbs (30g x 4) + fat (1 g x 9) you get 181 calories, a big difference.
So, what’s the story? The other three cereals are also higher but not quite as much (20-28 cals). I understand rounding or truncating fractions but this should only give you 8.5 cals worst case …
-
barnyardpunch almost 2 years ago
Funny, that’s the exact reason I came to the website. 140 cals for a whole cup of this stuff?
-
PocoAskew almost 2 years ago
To get accurate calorie counts you need to subtract the insoluble fiber content (9g for GoLean) as it is not digested. Also, the true value for carb’s and protein is closer to 3.75 calories per gram, not the usual (rounded up to) 4. Do the math with these figures and the result is 137 calories. Hope this helps!

140 calories is not anything to be bummed about, actually cereal burns off extremely quickly so no one should worry about it.
