I am a huge fan of Kashi foods so I picked this up! The first time I tried this oatmeal with hot water I thought it was really bland and I couldn’t get passed three bites before throwing it out. The next time I tried it I microwaved the oatmeal with vanilla soymilk and it was DELICIOUS. There’s no soymilk taste at all… it just made the oatmeal richer and taste better. I don’t like sugary oatmeals at all and this was just right for me. I add a sliced banana or a chopped apple depending on what I have on hand and it’s the perfect thing in the morning.
I guess it’s a good plan to let people sweeten the oatmeal to their taste. And in my case, I imagine that the honey I added is much better than refined sugar present in other brands. So, all in all, sure, why not… just be prepared to add something to it unless bland is your thing.
As I sit here suffering thru a “healthy store-brand oatmeal” with a strong artificial sweetener aftertaste I realize I absolutley love The Kashi Honey and Cinnamon Hot Cereal and will no longer buy anything else!
This is my favorite Kashi product. I add a teaspoon full of chopped almonds and a teaspoon full of raisons and it is heaven. I used to skip breakfast until I was diagnosed as diabetic. It has helped take me from an A1C of 9.5 to 5.2 in 3 months! I just wish Kashi would print the nutritional info on the individual packets, I take them to work a few at a time and it isn’t practical to keep a full box of them in my desk. I need to watch my carb intake with each meal and you are not helping me.
Take a marker and write the carb count on the packets you take with you to work. I do this with with my Weight Watchers points.
Love this stuff. Nice texture, not mush. I add about a tbs of chopped walnuts or flax. Sweet enough to skip sugar. Much better than the vanilla. Good for people that don’t want sweet, smooth oats. If you want sweet and smooth go for the vanilla.
I like the flavour, though it’s a little delicate. My only problem is with the serving size…for the nutrition statistics it possesses, I would have liked to have seen a LOT more cereal in my bowl. Barring that, it’s okay. I’m not sure I would buy it again though. I want to try the vanilla flavour and see if that is any better…
I LOVE that this is a heartier oatmeal and doesn’t get totally mushy. I make mine with plain almond milk and add a handful of fresh raspberries and fresh blackberries, adds plenty of sweetness. I also add a teeny bit of sea salt.
Saw that this was on sale and I thought I would try it out. I’m a fan of other Kashi products, but this is horrible. It’s extremely bland and I have to force myself to eat it.
My 3 year old loves it! Is there a way to cook it on the stovetop?
After a friend heard I love grains, she recommended this oatmeal to me. I was skeptical at first, but I quickly fell in love! All grain lovers should try this cereal. It’s so coarse and hearty. (On the other hand, if you don’t like grains, beware.)
I highly, highly recommend everybody to let this cereal sit for at least five minutes after microwaving it. In fact, I consider that a must. If you don’t wait, you end up with a soupy oatmeal. I promise the five-minute wait is well worth it!
i was surprised how much i liked this. it’s meatier than regular oatmeal w/ great flavor, and i don’t think that i’ll buy the old stuff ever again
So good! Very filling and hearty and perfectly sweet!
My grocery store stopped selling the apple cinnamon oatmeal and I’m sad….I can’t find it anywhere!
I’m ruined for all other oatmeal now. I’ve eaten this for about three months, then I was stuck grocery shopping in another town and picked up another kind (because they didn’t have hearty) and I was totally grossed out by the other. So if they discontinue this I’m up the creek – must start hoarding it! Regular textured oatmeal just doesn’t taste right anymore.
i love this oatmeal. i love that it has such great texture! it’s sweet enough for me and filling. i usually eat fruit along with it.
YUMMMMMMMY
I love this cereal! I’m eating a bowl right now!
I LOVE THIS!! It is soo good! It seems that some people feel that this oatmeal is a little bland but I think it has a real nutty taste to it that makes it really good! I could easily eat this every single morning!
This hot cereal is great! Sometimes I’ll eat two packets for breakfast, lunch and/or dinner. It’s not too sweet, the texture is grand, and the cinnamon flavor is awesome. Keep up the good work, Kashi!
I have to say that I HATE oatmeal and was wary of trying this, but am happy that I did. Makes my belly happy, not too soft and warm like goodness in the morning. :)
