It keeps exploding in the microwave!! I’m following the directions, but even cutting the cooking time to 30 seconds makes it explode all over the microwave. I cover it with a paper towel, which then gets soaked with burning hot oatmeal, while some of it still leaks out of the sides, and I’m left with about half the amount (which is delicious, don’t get me wrong). I’ve wasted three packets already, so if anyone can suggest a better method, I would really appreciate it!

watch your oatmeal!!
when the oatmeal is starting to rise and is about to bubble over in your microwave, pause the timer and take it out and stir it. repeat until fully cooked.

I add raisins and cinnamon to my Kashi oatmeal along with a 1/4 c. of quick oats. Increase the water by 1/4 c. and this breakfast keeps me full and satisfied well past the lunch hour. It has become a regular routine for me to start my day with Kashi!

Proud to say that I switched from my Quaker Maple Brown Sugar oatmeal to Kashi Honey and Cinnamon oatmeal and I’m feeling pretty good about it. Less calories, less sugar, and less sodium, but with more protein and fiber. I like the flavor, but as a breakfast I usually use 2 packets (300 calories) to make it more of a meal, and it keeps me full for a long time. If I’m feeling adventurous I’ll use one and mix in some crunchy cereal, fresh blueberries, and a little blueberry applesauce. Yummy.

I often decrease my carbs when I am dieting. I really hate eating eggs everyday on these types of diets and this oatmeal is great. It is so high in fiber and protein that it fits in with my dieting. I started out using this product for weight loss but now it is what I buy for hot cereal period. When I am dieting I don’t add much to it, but sometimes I add more honey and chunked apples and raisins, so so good!

Tmcnabb loved this. about 2 years agoLove the texture and flavor!! Most instant oatmeals on the market are too sweet and the texture is just creamy mush. Once I tried the Go-Lean Hearty I was hooked. This is for those of use who love the texture of steel cut oats but don’t have the time to make them!
Tip: Sometimes I add crushed pecans and extra cinnamon for a little more crunch, flavor and protein.

Anyone having a problem with the sweetness of the Oatmeal, might I make a suggestion: sprinkle a little brown sugar and extra cinnamon on it, and to make it extra creamy (and yes, destroy the health value), put a dab of butter in it just after it finishes in the microwave. I make it for my four-year-old niece this way and it’s our Go-To breakfast when she stays the night. Best oatmeal ever! Never runny or weird, always perfect when you follow the cooking instructions!

I love some of the Kashi foods snacks but this one oatmeal has got to be one of the nastiest tasting I have ever ate, and I tried it with optimism, I suggest you make one with either apricot or mangoes in it

As someone who had gastric bypass surgery in 2008 I have to have meals with high protein and low sugar. I decided to try the honey cinnamon cereal… It helps to READ the instructions because you can’t just add hot water to this cereal like oatmeal. The first morning I tried to make it on the way out the door like oatmeal… Not good. The 2nd day I actually cooked it :0) much better than the day before BUT still did not have the protein in it I need. My blood sugar dropped, if I eat this then I need to fit in more protein some how…big issue gave the rest to my mom to eat…Bummer!

I eat some variety of Kashi cereal every morning, so I thought I might like Hearty Honey Cinammon hot cereal.
I didn’t like it at all. I want my money ($3) back.
It’s disgusting.
It has no flavor and its texture is really weird. It feels like there is some sort of dust mixed in with the grain. Very unpleasant.

I don’t like oatmeal or hot cereal. Big thing for me was to find one w/o maple-I HATE MAPLE anything. I love Kashi Go Lean Crunch so when I say the hot cereal with Clusters I was excited to try it. Now I have it every morning before I workout. 1 min in microwave stir and 30 seconds more and done! NOT overly sweet. Just right.

I love this cereal, especially since it has more soluble fiber than anything else I can find. However, the whey protein causes me some digestive problems, but not as much as the Vanilla flavor, which has even more soluble fiber.

I don’t even want to speak or be interrupted when am eating it, i’ve even lost 5 pounds since i’ve chosen this as my early morning first meal, it keeps me totally filled and happy until lunch time….I used to love the almond cereal, but i would eat the entire box haha. with this, am feel more in control, I just use 2 packets and am ok…Thanks Kaski! Kashi should have me do a commercial for them …

I am no longer able to locate this product in stores near me!!! It is very frustrating to look in store after store and still come up empty. What gives Kashi? Target, Walmart, Dominick’s and Jewel all previously carried this oatmeal but now their shelves are filled with inferior hot cereals. HELP!!!
Log in or join the community to reply to this comment. -
I too cannot find this at the listed retailers in my area. The Targets in my area seem to no longer carry it. I also could buy it at the Giant Grocery Store near work and they no longer have it on their shelves. I let them both know at their customer service counters that I was missing it. I have been eating this oatmeal for quite some time now and have found no other as hearty. I love it! I will be very disappointed if it is no longer carried by retailers in my area. Can someone from Kashi help?

Ashley – I continue to look for it in stores in my area – but no one is carrying it. I see others with similar comments since I made mine. While I probably will resort to buying it on line, it is not really a convenient way for me to shop for breakfast cereal. In order to make it worthwhile, I have to order a larger quantity at a time than I would buy and find a place to store it at home. It seems your store locator is out of date – none of the stores listed in my area are carrying the product anymore.

I also cannot find this hot cereal in any retail stores around me including Trader Joe’s. They all use to carry it. It’s one of my favorite hot cereals that I looked forward to. The store locator is not update, I agree. I hope some store bring it back soon.

I found this product in the store several months ago, and have eaten it for breakfast almost every day since! But I am sort of freaking out, because it is disappearing from the stores I always found it at before! I have tried 3 Targets in the last month, as well as some other local grocers and no one has it! This site says they carry it but they don’t! I just hope this doesn’t mean it is being discontinued!!!

That is exactly why I logged in today – to see where else I could buy my favorite oatmeal because it is no longer at Target or two other grocery stores I’ve tried & both are on the list of where to find it. I may actually have to buy it online.
-
biggunks almost 3 years agoI’m glad to hear that they may be out of stock, but that just doesn’t seem like what’s going on. None of the local Walmarts, Targets, and Krogers in the north Dallas seem to stock it anymore. In fact, I haven’t seen it in any stores at all for at least a month. If they were out of stock, I’d expect to at least see an empty section on the shelf or a price tag on the shelf for Kashi. But, all they now seem to stock is the Quaker junk. Do we need to complain to these stores or is it a Kashi supply issue like with the waffles? Also, it’d be great if we could buy it in bulk at a Sam’s or Costco type store.

This is the only hot cereal my daughter will eat besides hominy grits and we haven’t found it on our last 2 shopping trips!! Not even Akins foods has it. I will continue to look or buy it online! I love it too because it’s not mushy, it has body and a great taste.

I hve been buying this for about a year and love, love it. I like it, too, due to its high protien value and I use skim milk instead of water so it ups the protien even more. It it the best breakfast cereal I have found that has protien and the benefits of oatmeal all rolled into one. Tastes great, too. Keeps me full all morning.

I was weary of trying oatmeal, for I have a hard time eating food with a mushy texture…but this oatmeal has such a hearty and oaty feel in the mouth that I did not have a problem. I add an additional sprinkle of cinnamon to bump up the intensity of the flavor.

I am a huge fan of Kashi foods so I picked this up! The first time I tried this oatmeal with hot water I thought it was really bland and I couldn’t get passed three bites before throwing it out. The next time I tried it I microwaved the oatmeal with vanilla soymilk and it was DELICIOUS. There’s no soymilk taste at all… it just made the oatmeal richer and taste better. I don’t like sugary oatmeals at all and this was just right for me. I add a sliced banana or a chopped apple depending on what I have on hand and it’s the perfect thing in the morning.

This is my favorite Kashi product. I add a teaspoon full of chopped almonds and a teaspoon full of raisons and it is heaven. I used to skip breakfast until I was diagnosed as diabetic. It has helped take me from an A1C of 9.5 to 5.2 in 3 months! I just wish Kashi would print the nutritional info on the individual packets, I take them to work a few at a time and it isn’t practical to keep a full box of them in my desk. I need to watch my carb intake with each meal and you are not helping me.

Take a marker and write the carb count on the packets you take with you to work. I do this with with my Weight Watchers points.

Love this stuff. Nice texture, not mush. I add about a tbs of chopped walnuts or flax. Sweet enough to skip sugar. Much better than the vanilla. Good for people that don’t want sweet, smooth oats. If you want sweet and smooth go for the vanilla.
Log in or join the community to reply to this comment. -
I like the flavour, though it’s a little delicate. My only problem is with the serving size…for the nutrition statistics it possesses, I would have liked to have seen a LOT more cereal in my bowl. Barring that, it’s okay. I’m not sure I would buy it again though. I want to try the vanilla flavour and see if that is any better…

My 3 year old loves it! Is there a way to cook it on the stovetop?

After a friend heard I love grains, she recommended this oatmeal to me. I was skeptical at first, but I quickly fell in love! All grain lovers should try this cereal. It’s so coarse and hearty. (On the other hand, if you don’t like grains, beware.)
I highly, highly recommend everybody to let this cereal sit for at least five minutes after microwaving it. In fact, I consider that a must. If you don’t wait, you end up with a soupy oatmeal. I promise the five-minute wait is well worth it!

I’m ruined for all other oatmeal now. I’ve eaten this for about three months, then I was stuck grocery shopping in another town and picked up another kind (because they didn’t have hearty) and I was totally grossed out by the other. So if they discontinue this I’m up the creek – must start hoarding it! Regular textured oatmeal just doesn’t taste right anymore.

This hot cereal is great! Sometimes I’ll eat two packets for breakfast, lunch and/or dinner. It’s not too sweet, the texture is grand, and the cinnamon flavor is awesome. Keep up the good work, Kashi!
