When you have entire blogs and websites dedicated to how much GAS this cereal gives you, don’t you think you should re-think a few of your ingredients? Like maybe the chicory root fiber that is also found in FiberOne bars (a.k.a. FART BARS)?? I am NEVER buying this cereal again! Ruined 3 pairs of pants and a relationship!!!

Right amount of crunch and flavor. Sometimes I do leave it in the milk for a min or two to soften it. I also love eating it hot. Thirty seconds in the microwave for a hot breakfast.

I went out and bought some Kashi because I heard some great things and I want to eat better so I got the honey flax and I didn’t like it at all I wanted the berry crumble but they were all out, the Honey Almond Flax kinda taste just like SMACKS from kellogs and they were really hard on my teeth even with the milk, I still want to try other kinds though!

I recently bought this cereal from Walmart because I wanted to try this cereal. It is DELICIOUS!! The only problem I have with the cereal is that there are less clusters and more crushed clusters in my box. I understand that this might be due to shipping but I enjoy the clusters when I can find them. :)

Thought this cereal was pretty good at first. A little crunchy but not too bad. Until I found a hair baked into the cereal.. DISGUSTING. Tried to call Kashi and waiting on the phone for about half an hour. I expect better from companies like this, safe to say I won’t ever be buying Kashi brands again.

This is one of my favorite cold cereals and I buy other Kashi products, also. I just wanted to point out that the ingredients for this particular cereal list whole flax seed……..I believe that flax seed is most beneficial to the body when taken in a ground or milled form. Including whole flax seed may make the fiber content of the cereal go up, but it is not as easily digested/used by the body (most of it will just pass through) in this form. Read labels and understand what you are eating! I will continue to eat Kashi products, but will be aware that the fiber content (as used by the body) is not really as it is stated.

I am upset with the Kashi brand. I recently decided to integrate Kashi cereal into my diet while prepping for a fitness competition due to the high protein content in the cereal. Becuase of this, I measure all of my food serving portions out each week. The box of Go Lean Crunch says that there are about 8 one cup servings in the box; however in both boxes I have purchased I have never been able to even get 6 full cups out the box. I thought the first box may have been a fluke but the second only affirmed my aggravation. If this were a $2 or $3 box of cereal I may not mind as much, but paying $5 or more per box only to be receiving 3/4 of the product is unacceptable. Most people probably would not notice this as they do not measure out their cereal portions; however, if you sold a box of Kashi bars and it said there were eight in the box and every time you opened it there were only six, I think people might notice.
Just saying…-

I purchased my box of Go Lean Crunch for $2.88 at Walmart in San Antonio, Texas.

I first bought Kashi from Harris Teter – for $5.00 but then decided to go elsewhere. I found that the same cereals in the same sizes where only $3.00. That’s two dollars cheaper. My suggestion is to look at other stores and compare prices.

You should be weighing out the portion, not measuring by cupfuls. During transport some of the product gets crushed, reducing it’s volume.

This cereal tastes great, but unfortunately, it produces unbelievably debilitating gas! I already eat a high-fiber diet, and I have even stuck to Kashi Go-lean crunch for several months, thinking my digestive system would eventually get used to it. Not happening. I can’t believe this effect is just caused by the fiber. Kashi, there are websites out there that are entirely dedicated to discussing the intestinal distress that is caused by this cereal. Is there not some way to modify the formula to minimize this effect?

Are you drinking enough water? I heard a dietitian say years ago that most people don’t know that when you increase your fiber, you need to also increase your water — a glass of water per cup of fiber. I don’t know if that’s what your problem is, but it may help. (He said the additional fiber can actually block your intestines if you aren’t drinking enough water.)

Sigrid, if you’re not exhibiting flatulence like thunder claps, you must have intestines of steel. This cereal is ridiculous.

This is absolutely the best ceral I have ever tasted. Love it by itself, in milk, or as a topping on ice cream. Yummmmm.

I love this cereal. I don’t have any gas issues with it, but then I’ve been eating 20+ grams of fiber per day for quite some time now. I also find that if you pour a bowl w/milk and let it sit for about 5 minutes before eating it, it becomes much easier to chew in terms of the large crunchy clusters. Crushing some of the larger clusters prior to eating also helps. Either way, the taste and texture of this cereal is AWESOME!
-
The one and only reason I don’t like it is due to the debiliatating gas! I don’t mean a bit of gas, I mean unbearable pain and bloating. Have been enjoying Kashi products for years and I love the flavor, texture and benefits of the goodness and quality of the products. I beg you to find a way to fix the gas causing properties.

Chew carefully. I enjoy the cereal, and feel that the protein, fiber and omega-3 help me. But in the last couple boxes purchased, I’ve encountered chunks that go beyond crunchy to unyielding. I like to mindlessly eat my cereal in the morning as I catch up on email and the morning papers, but this forces me to focus on the cereal instead of the reading material. If this keeps happening I’ll have to move on to another cereal, which would be bad because this stuff seems just right for me. I don’t want to break a tooth or a crown.
@Kashi: I looked all over the box for something like a lot or serial number (no pun intended), but only found the UPS code on the bottom: 0-18627-74150-3. I saved a couple of the “stones” and can send them in if you want to try to correct this issue.

Yes! Thank you Dr. Dean. I do not know you, but started to get a degree after high school in public health education and realized I was learning nothing…my junior year, almost a 4.0, but nothing real to use. With the little nutrition I learned, knowing my mother, grandfather, sister all had to have their gallbladders removed, I restricted fat starting in the early ’80’s. As a resident director for 12 yrs, at a prep school, so much dining hall food served was high fat so as my family lived on this high school campus, I ate MANY baked potatoes for dinner with a vegetable, its juices, or just sour cream and seasoning. I have high cholesterol, but my GOOD is SO HIGH, it overcomes the bad…I just found out! I have been married 29 yrs and our 2 daughters inherited my husbands ‘hypophosphetemia’, and were two of the first to use the newly developed modality…in 1984. But, my health was NEEDED to get them through, unexpectedly, the 7 surgeries they have had in the past 9 years, with one to go yet, for Sarah. Unfortunately they adopted my husbands eating habits and not mine. And, my oldest, was kept under too long during her first surgery and now, even though an honor student, struggles to ‘think’ after her extensive surgery. She’s at A&M, finished 3 years and had a work accident, and waits and works until she can finish, as we are no longer able to help. I won’t go into that. BUT, DEAR PEOPLE realize that KASHI has a GREAT cereal (AND OTHER GREAT FOODS), that have REAL food value, GREAT taste! I am still struggling to get there, but not from lack of desire but due to 2 debilitating car accidents, that left me on full disability, with very little money.(In both I was at a full stop and was rear ended). BUT… REAL FOOD, SLEEP, and research might help me beat this. My relatives were Polish peanut/cotton farmers who ‘ate off the land’…and lived into their late eighties. DEAR PEOPLE, listen to this doctor…LISTEN! EAT to LIVE!!! Find ways to FIGHT back TO health, in the way this doctor describes…I fought to keep my gallbladder, and I have some of the greatest battles ahead, to RESTORE my overadrenalized body, now dysfunctional, but no one could predict the numbers of surgeries they needed or that almost 2 years ago, my husband would break his femur at work(and he has the same genetic problem). If you are YOUNG— LEARN now and DO IT. If you are beginning to get symptoms…FIGHT your cholesterol,as he recommends, and EAT healthy! THE market for healthy foods has expanded, so DO IT and LIVE! God bless. Pray for me, Will, and our girls…and think about this, especially if you are YOUNG——NOTHING HARD IS EVERY EASY!!! But it is so much more possible AND TASTY because of visionaries like the KASHI company. Thank you Dr. Dean AND KASHI.

Unfortunately, good eating produces gas. We are going to have to rethink everything we believe about nutrition and physiology. 30% of American children already have cholesterol levels considered too high!!! In the last 3 decades, obesity in American children from ages 5-11 has increased by 54%!!!! If you are serious about reducing cholesterol take a look at the “8 Week Cholesterol Cure” or Harriet Roth’s Cholesterol Control Cookbook. They recommend eating 2 specially prepared oatbran muffins every day. (Note: these are not store bought garbage, these are produced by the recipe in their book) Go ahead and try these, they are pretty harsh tasting and they produce enormous amonts of gas and their soluble fiber content is not as high as the Kashi Cereals. Soluble fiber is going to make you pass gas period. If you have not eaten a high fiber diet it will take a couple of weeks before everything settles down. The soluble fiber, with gel-like pectins and gum will trap bile acids, which are a precursor to liver cholesterol producion, in the gastrointestinal tract and cause them to be excreted from the colon. The net result is a large loss of cholesterol in your stool. This is a powerful weapon in your war against cholesterol. Some of these Kashi cereals provide 5g of soluble fiber per serving which is enormous. We are so worried about terrorists and yet we have an estimated 100,000 coronary premature deaths in the U.S. from just having hydrogenated vegetable oils to be allowed in our manufacturing process of our foods (Harvard School of Public Health). Wake up America! we are being killed by our food and Kashi is making a heroic effort to get you to eat differently and safely. Dean W. Larson, M.D.

I went through the sign-in process simply to say this… Kashi products result in terrible gas!!! Google it if you don’t believe me. I also found it amusing that as I was registering, the names “terrible” and “gas” were already taken! LOL It appears that I’m not alone… even on Kashi’s own website. I’ve never get bad gas, but Kashi changed that. I will return the boxes I bought and demand a refund on the opened box too. How ironic that a company which boasts natural goodness produced a product that made me feel ill and bloated. Thanks Kashi! I’ll be sure to avoid your products in the future. I hope this comment helps others avoid what I went through.

No, ptcre, you don’t seem to understand. I’ve been on a high-fiber diet for several years now. I’ve found only 2 products that produce this potent, thunderous, (somehow) odorless, body-bloating, constant, volumnous gas. Kashi GoLean Crunch and FiberOne bars. No amount of water or exercise will make it better. I’m sorry, Mr. Dean, but I absolutely WILL NOT eat this cereal for 2 days, let alone 2 weeks. It’s embarassing, painful, and socially crippling.

I had gastric bypass surgery in January…my eating choices have done a complete 180. The Honey Almond Flax is delicious and doesn’t upset the pouch. Not too many foods taste all that great when you have to chew them into practically, well, you know what happens when you keep chewing and chewing and chewing. The flavor is endless and makes a great additive to yogurt! Looking forward to trying other Kashi products!

Great tasting Go-Lean Crunch cereal and healthy for you. Honey almond fax, in addition to the flax seed that I add, is one of, if not the healthiest cereal for you. Arians Market, where I frequent most when purchasing Kashi products have a sale on Kashi cereal for $2.99 a box with my added coupon for a $1.00 off makes this a great buy at $1.99. Keep on sending coupons. Thank you,

I LOVE THIS CEREAL!!! Please don’t change it and please don’t take it off the stores shelves…This is one of the best cereals I’ve had in a long time that i good for you and taste DELIC…I the loaded with fiber and protein, this is now a staple in my cabinets. I absolutely love this cereal, and would like to address some of the problems other people seem to have. For those who complain that the cereal is too hard, you have to realize that this is a very natural cereal, the number 1 ingredient is hard red wheat! Surely you weren’t expecting a heavily processed food to give you the perfect mouth feel, this cereal is hearty and substantial. Those who complain about gas, this cereal is loaded with fiber, as it should be, because it is full of whole ingredients. Transitioning from a heavily processed food diet to a more natural one will always cause a change to occur, but once you adjust you should be fine. And for those who complain about the high sugar content, 12g of sugar is = a tablespoon, which isn’t horrible especially for a 53g serving of cereal in 1 cup. The fat and large amount of fiber + protein will prevent ANY fast glycemic response from occurring. If you still think it’s too high maybe Kashi could replace some of the sugar with stevia or other natural sweetener. Overall great cereal, hope you guys keep making it!

I am trying to eat healthier and at times it becomes hard because I am such a picky eater. I was told about this cereal, and honestly I was apprehensive about buying it because every time I tried a healthy cereal I did not enjoy the taste and would just throw it away. I must saying that I tried the Honey Almond Flaw cereal this morning and I was in shock! It had all the elements I liked. The honey gives it a sweet flavor, which I need in order to eat cereal. I give this an A+ Kashi really did a great job. I would really recommend anyone to try the Honey Almond Flax cereal.

I have tried the original and the Toasted Berry Crumble. Every time I go to the store the Honey Almond Flax is always sold out. I would really like to try this. I like the amount of protein that is in the original, is there any way the protein content can be boosted in the other brands? I love cereal and I work out regularly. The increased amount of protein in the Honey Almond brand would be awesome!

So Total just came out with a new cereal called “Honey Almond Flax” as well (come on…get more creative and stop stealing Kashi’s names) anyway, I tried it for breakfast this morning, and it was a total disappointment. It in no way is even close to the same level as Kashi’s Honey Almond Flax.
In my bowl of Total I got about 5 little almond slices and I saw only one flax seed. It was ridiculous. I should never have strayed from my favorite Kashi cereal!
