Be proactive about your health
Regular medical screenings are great tools for keeping on top of your physical health – and are recommended for everyone at various stages in their lives. Sometime in the next six months, find out what medical screenings are recommended for your age and health history, and make some appointments.

I have been not buying snacks that are not good for me. I have been buying Kashi products to snack on.
had kashi go lean crunch honey almond flax for breakfast.Instead of a sugary alternative
avoided giant box of doughnuts and bagels & lox at work this morning and chose fruit instead. i have been trying really hard for a couple weeks now to eat healthier and had good success— the best part is the increased energy, and i noticed i don’t seem or feel as puffy. the kashi bars (LOVE the rolls!) are a great grab-and-go snack for when i’m running out the door and don’t have time to sit down for a meal, but need an energy boost to hold me over. Am looking forward to trying the shake…seems like it would make a good breakfast? i’m generally not a breakfast person, but am trying to eat SOMETHING since it is so important.
Just received my new health cards in the mail and now I’m off to make the doctor’s appointment for a health screening next week! As for my heatlhy eating I tried a new Kashi frozen meal – Lime Cilantro Shrimp! It is great and when I add a couple tablespoons of nuts (monounsaturated fats! The good stuff) I have a great meal that keeps my energy and additiude up until it is time for dinner!
My local public television stations was hold its annual fundraising auction (we all know how annoying those can be…) but one of the items up for auction was an $1600 comprehensive health screening at a men’s health medical practice. I bid — and won for just $350! The screening included everything — cholesterol, EKG, stress test, testosterone, hearing, vision, flexibility, heart-stress test, and more. I usually avoid doctors unless I’m really sick but this was a great way to visit the doctor (because I wasn’t sick!) and to get a sort of “healthy-me” baseline set of numbers. Now I know exactly what to work on. (Plus I supported my local PBS station.)
I joined a gym! Tomorrow is my first session with my personal trainer. I have 4 appointments with her and the I’m on my own. My goal is to move this body every day for at least 30-90 minutes. This gym has awesome classes and a great selection of equipment. I had a baseline physical within the past year to rule out diabeties, high choesterol, heart and lung issues. I’d like to keep it that way. I have a personal goal to lose 20 pounds and to tone and define my arms, flatten my stomach, and reduce inches around. I also need to increase my flexibilty and work on tolerating aerobic activity for long stretched of time – like 30 minutes at least. I’m winded after climbing the stairs to fast. I’m trying to cook only fresh and organic foods. Kashi Pilaf has become a staple for me for hot and cold dishes, sweet and savory. Hope to get 8 hours of sleep every night too.
Had a full physical since last baby was born…16 months ago! I feel great and received a good bill of health. Now it’s my job to stay healthy through fitness and nutrition!
Since February I have quit eating red meat, and have mainly gotten natural and organic food when I go shopping. I feel SOOOOOOOOO much better!!
I try not to buy processed foods, and eat as much fresh fruits and veggies as possible!
I had been real lax on doctors appointments for myself. Finally made the call and had a complete physical.
I have gone for all of my age appropriate screenings as well as seeing my Dr. on a regular basis to stay on top of everything. Want to be able to prevent something before it happens and not have to try and cure something. I definitely watch what I eat for my own health reasons and to be pro-active with my children’s health as well. Of course I make sure they go for their yearly physicals and screenings also.
