Challenge your brain
Research suggests that as you age your brain benefits from intellectual tasks, just like your body benefits from physical exercise. Today, get your mind going by doing something stimulating. Try a crossword puzzle, play some cards, read a book, attend a lecture – anything that gets your mind active and that you might enjoy doing regularly.
Soduko is my daily game, I also enjoy word finds. I’m not much of a crossword puzzle kid, because I don’t watch a lot T.V.and I stay away from politics – so I stick with soduko and word finds. You can find an assortment at your bookstore; even stick note Sodukos which are handy for traffic jams and long trips. I always have a soduko/word find book in my bag.

Word games are my mind challenge. I’ve always enjoyed them and now, with the computer, I don’t need company to play. I love to play Scrabble against myself, but enjoy the computer as challenger too. I now have my granddaughter joining in. She discovered the ‘hint’ button a while back and beat me so bad before admitting to her scheme.

I try to read a book a week. I’ve read so many that sometimes I forget whether or not I’ve read a particular one. Funny. The only way to get around this dilemma is by writing a review on a notebook of every book I read. It serves as a kind of diary, really. Interesting to see what my take was on a particular book I read a couple of years ago. Sometimes I read a book twice, years apart, just to see how I’ve changed.
I work on puzzels with my neice every week, do hidden mystery games and do timed dexterity tests on my computer. I also knit and sew which can often challenge my brain.
