Get cooking
It’s a simple idea, but surprisingly hard for folks with busy lifestyles to implement: Why start from scratch when there’s a shortcut available? Answer: Because food you cook yourself can be as natural—and naturally tasty—as you want it to be. Scratch cooking is also a great lifelong habit, because the extra time it involves helps you approach your food choices more mindfully. Today, challenge yourself to prepare a dish you usually “cheat” on with pre-packaged fare. Some stellar substitutions:
• Home-baked potatoes or potato slices instead of packaged, pressed “fries”
• Home-cooked (or even handmade) whole-grain pasta instead of frozen, pre-cooked, or canned varieties
• Scratch soup instead of canned or boxed blends.

I’ve always wanted to make curry at home. Do you have a recipe for your vegetable curry?

There is no canned stock in my pantry…haev made my own stocks and broths for over 10 years. Always use whole grain pastas, and make my own pappardalle with fresh basel and oregano within the dough…very yummy and elegant to serve. NEVER< NEVER fries in our home…always fresh potatoes, usually sweet for grilling, baking, mashing, and cutting into wedges.
