Floss
Sure, we all tell our dentists we floss everyday. But do we really? Although you might not think it’s important, some studies link oral health to your body’s overall health. You see, flossing keeps your gums healthy. And this means that bacteria in your mouth are less likely to get into your bloodstream where they can potentially compromise your health. This week, make the effort to floss every day. It only takes a couple minutes.
(We’ve given you 7 days for this Challenge. When you log your progress, you only need to log as many – or as few – days as are applicable.)
A few friends at my old job decided to start a Flossing Club. Everyday at 10am we would all get out our floss and do our business. As silly as it is… it worked. I still set my calendar for a reminder everyday at 10am even though I’m all alone. I miss my flossing buddies!
there’s nothing like the clean feeling after a good floss, brush and rinse. who’s with me?
I haven’t flossed for so long and have a permanent retainer on my bottom teeth that I have a hard time pushing my self to do it.
Flossing?! How can you insane people care about flossing whilst there is evil afoot??
My gums bleed quite a bit the first 2 or 3 days and then started feeling healthy and strong towards the end of the week and now i’ve kept up with the challenge after the 7 days!!!
alforda9111990, I too have a permmanent retainer on my bottom teeth. I make sure I floss there the most. I use the blue floss threaders to get under my retainer. Your local drug store should have them, as well as your dentist.
Well I’m going to give it my best. Flossing is definitely something that I don’t keep up with in my dental routine. I brush and use mouthwash but just can’t stand flossing cause my gums bleed. But I will start tonight!
Haha, I guess I have this one pretty easy. Being a dental hygienist, I’m extremely concerned with dental health and floss everyday, as well as educate my patients on the importance of flossing. There have been MANY studies on the link between oral health and your overal general health. For those of you with fixed retainers, try threader floss, which looks like normal floss, but has about an inch or so of rigid floss at one end, to help poke between your teeth under your retainer. And if your gums are slightly tender when you do it, try some Oragel or something of the sort, to numb your gums while you floss there. If you floss daily, your gums won’t be so sore, and you will get used to flossing under the retainer! It’s such a healthy habit, and your teeth and gums will feel so much better afterwards!!
