I will attend an ashtanga yoga class once a week for one hour. I will park far away from the store. I will purchase cold weather running gear, and cold weather gear for the kids, so that I can take them for a walk for half an hour daily, regardless of weather. I will walk my daughter to the bus stop rather than driving her to the school. I will turn on silly music to dance to with the kids once a day, in the morning. I will not buy sweets or junk food, and will instead by healthy foods such as yogurts, cheeses, nuts, and fruit to snack on. I will sit down on the weekend and make a grocery list for the week so that we will not eat out when we don’t have enough groceries and I can’t make the trip that day. I will pray with the kiddos every night, and spend my last 5 minutes awake meditating.

I’m going to try the walking with longer strides and see whether that makes a change in my lower back pain. This is not my first attempt at exercise, but I do hope it will be the one that sticks.

That’s great! I think too many people go on very restrictive diets that are just impossible to maintain for any length of time. It’s all about healthy lifestyle changes that you can stick with for life.

Thank you for reminding me! I was having a hard time thinking of a way to get started. WII fit is perfect for my “get healthy” kick off.

I was recently diagnosed with high blood pressure and cholesterol. When my doctor gave me a fat, sugar and sodium-free diet to follow I thought I was doomed to eating tasteless food for rest of my life. All I have to say is thank heavens for Kashi!!!! Delicious food that I (and my doctor) feel good about. Thank you for caring about your consumers!!!!

I did five squats while standing on inflated ‘fitballs’ today! My challenge is to overcome fear of safe exercise. Despite loss of feeling in my feet and hands, I want to keep active to the best of my ability. I enjoy healthy eating; expecially grains and vegetables.

I will walk to the mailbox today.

I started a game plan to do more for myself this year and have a personal trainer who motivates me through workouts and drives me to feel better about myself. I have a goal to lose 50 pounds this year …one step at a time. With the support of my family and the focus on me, I know I can do it. Having Kashi snack bars and cereals to keep me straight on the healthy eating front helps too!

lifting 5lb weights along with exercise and walking a mile a day

I’ve been quite good about riding my exercise bike since Christmas and walking around our little town instead of driving when I need to go to the library, post office, church, etc. I’m trying to back off on overindulging in sweets and breads, my main weak spots. I’ll never give up good breads, but I won’t waste calories on crummy packaged breads that have no fiber or good chewy yeastiness!

I am 51 and have been struggling with my weight all my life. I do continue to exercise 5-7 times a week. I work out with a personal trainer twice a week and do the rest on my own (swim, run, weights). My goal this year is to cut back on chips, breads and chocolate (my weaknesses). I find the older I get the more I crave these things. I do love the Kashi cereals and snack bars. They are life savers!!

I’m 58 and very active. I literally feel guilty, though, when I don’t have regular workouts (cardio) minimum 3 times a week. We hike, swim, 4 wheel, camp, cruise and much more. It’s just too easy at these times to really “pig out”. In last 5 days, I haven’t done anything anything but slough off, as I’ve convinced myself I deserve the rest because I’m getting ready for a 24 hour drive for annual visit to Oncologist in Louisiana (one of very few who specializes in rare form of cancer I have: in remission now!) Due to meds I have to take every other day, I can only work out the “other days”! Tomorrow will begin my 1st ever challenge I have ever posted any where: online or “anywhere”, seriously, because normally, I am very disciplined. Will either do an hour on treadclimber here and Cardioglide w/free weights or will go to Community Center and use Ellyptical, Recumbant Bike, and Treadmill to cool down @ 15 degree incline. That being said: pls everyone, wish me luck, as I cannot work out “the next day”, if I happen to get off cycle from me meds.

gaetalittlerock over 1 year agoHi! I wish you all the luck in the world. You have a wonderful outlook on life. A life that you are truely living. I only wish I had 1/2 the energy you have. Be safe on your drive. You have inspired me to get off my butt and get moving more that I do now. I have marked 2 more gym days on my weekly schedule. Thank you so much!

Last January I set the goal to lose 12 pounds by March 25 (my bday). By that time I had lost 20 pounds. Over the past year I’ve lost 38 pounds and am now in a size 8. I completely changed the way I ate and added exercise. I work out 5-6 days a week alternating weights and cardio. I’ve maintained my current weight for 5 months and am now working on beating the plateau and reaching my ulitmate goal weight.

I want to be my best – in this moment, this stage of my life. I don’t say to myself, “I want to look like I did when I was 30,” because that won’t happen and I don’t want to go back in time. I just turned 50 and I plan to continue to feel and look spectacular, inside and out. I want to restore good physical, mental, emotional and spiritual habits.

chef2004 over 1 year agoThank you, I have the same outlook. Until I moved back to the US 12 yr ago I never really had a weight issue. Moved back, had a severe life style change and gained 140lbs in those 12 years. I will be 55 this year and have joined the gym with a friend. We both have about the same to get rid of, but find ourselfs not making it to the gym all the time we thought we would. We are going to recommit to this and get off our hiney’s.

I have already lost 52lbs over the past year by changing the way I eat completely and working out at the local gym 3-4 times a week. I have cut out soda pop, fast food, and all high sugar foods. Eat a variety of Kashi products daily including heart to heart cereal, GoLean waffles….would still like to lose about 10 more lbs by summer….It CAN be done….don’t give up!

I recently canceled my Nutrisystem membership after a couple of weeks on their dogfood – ugh! It was horrible. I thought, heck, I can do this better. I don’t like to cook so I went to Target and stocked up on healthy, low fat frozen dinners (tried Kashi – WOW), 100 calorie snack packs, health bars and lots of salad fixings. So the plan is to eat less than 1200 calories per day by eating something every 2-3 hours.

Francesca: I am very appreciative of someone giving the other side of Nutrisystem’s food. I have been so tempted to try it and hearing the 1st ever contradiction from what is advertised on TV, it has made me re-think.
Thanks for honesty!

After working part time and having the luxury of running in the afternoon I went back to work full time so I bought a treadmill to keep myself on track at night or early morning.
