Ready to forgo traditional holiday fare for something more, well, international? You can make old favorites fresh again this holiday season by using spices, flavors, and ideas from non-American cuisines. Today, challenge yourself to plan a menu that includes some of the following delicious innovations from around the world:

• Mole or masa harina from Latin America to dress turkeys and flavor stuffings.

• Jicama, pine nuts, poblano chiles, paprika and pineapples from Native American cuisines.

• Wines from smaller, lesser-known wine-making regions.

    i went vegan, (pcrm.org) its the meat & dairy that clog your arteries (vegan by design!) the arteries become as hard and brittle as the stem of a clay pipe. they are so full of calcium they are more like rocks that blood vessels. cutting them with a scissor at autopsy makes a distinct crunching sound. this blockage ALSO occurs in the arteries to the brain. when they close off, part of the brain dies. a stroke.

    I made 3 different types of tamales for xmas this year…chicken in mole, vegan, and chocolate (also vegan) tamales!

    I found a recipe for poultry that uses cinnamon, ginger, all spice and other dry spices. I wasn’t sure how the kids would react but everybody loved it.

    Cioppino for Christmas Eve dinner. Of Course we live at the Coast, so it kinda makes sense.
