Focus on flu prevention
H1N1, or so-called “swine” flu, is on many people’s minds as we enter the winter cold and flu season. Healthcare workers are reminding us that observing good hygiene standards is important as we try to reduce our chances of contracting H1N1 — or any viral or bacterial infection. Today, challenge yourself to wash your hands frequently with soap and water or, if necessary, an alcohol-based rub; avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth; minimize close contact with ill people; and try to avoid crowded places.

I’ve purchased travel size hand sanitizers, which can attach to the outside of any purse or backpack. Pushing shopping carts in stores, when you hand cashiers your credit/debit cards to pay for your purchases, and even when you get in your vehicle to drive, you’ll have it on hand. Most forget that nasty steering wheel and gear shift and eat while driving. Yuck!!!

I work in food so I am always washing my hands. Use lysol around your house, wash your veggies and fruits, wash your hands. It’s not that hard to do, and it keeps you healthy too.

I understand totally! It’s just so time-consuming…but it really does help prevent sickness, especially in these winter months. :)
