Recycle your sneakers

By Kashi
Challenge Yourself for: 24 Hours

Do your running shoes have a new life ahead of them in a children’s playground? They might, if you recycle them. The outer soles and inner midsoles of athletic shoes can be ground down and recreated as cushiony playground surfaces. A shoe’s upper materials can be made into indoor volleyball and basketball courts. Challenge yourself to recycle your current pair of sneakers when you can no longer wear them. Shoe recycling bins can be found in nearly 300 locations nationwide. Find out more at www.nikereuseashoe.com

The recycle place is an hour drive to get to for me. They need more recycling drop offs.

I’m hoping to upgrade to those new Easy Tone shoes that help tone your legs and butt. My shoes aren’t too bad so it’ll be donation time for them!

I will share this great idea with others, especially with teachers and community leaders. Thanks.

PaHiker-I donated mine at a locally owned running store that heads up donations – you don’t have to donate only to nike, hope this helps!

This is a great idea, unfortunately there aren’t any locations near me…maybe by the time mine wear out?!

I had over 70 pairs of running shoes saved up in my house from all of my years running. I even had my very first running shoes EVER! I finally decided to become emotionally unattached to them and donate them to nike.
