Juice up your water

By Kashi Read more fruit
Challenge Yourself for: 24 Hours

Anyone watching calorie and sugar consumption has learned to be wary of juice: With lots of calories, natural or artificial sugar, and nebulous nutrient content, it’s generally a less wholesome option than a glass of water and a whole fruit. Here’s a nice compromise if you want a hint of juice’s sweetness to dress up your water: Challenge yourself by freezing bright squares of juice in an ice cube tray and plopping one in your drink whenever you need that flavor lift.

I have done this. I have also done up to a 50/50 juice to water or green tea blend. I only use 100% naturally sweet juice. I never buy sugar laden or artificially sweetened juice. It’s always best to blend up frozen fruits and mix your own fruit juice blends…but still best to at least do a 50/50 juice to water or green tea blend sence all fruit has natural sugar that still needs to be controlled.

I love water more than any other drink, so I am fine drinking it. I don’t like juice at all, but unsweetened tea (especially w/ fruit in it) is delicious! I rarely drink sodas, and then I only drink diet ones. I can’t believe it when people say they hate water!

    Great idea!
I used to live in the south and was addicted to sweet tea. I haven’t drank it for a year straight but sometimes buy unsweetened tea and put a less amount of sugar than southern sweet tea. It’s SO bad for you and I drink mostly water and sometimes propel for flavor.

I like this idea. I generally put some mint leaves or a slice or two of cucumber in my water to add a bit of flavor.

I have recently been told I needed to up my fiber content and water intake. I recently found these little packets from special K. It has fiber and protein. Just add a packet to your bottled water. Makes it easier for me atleast. They taste great too! I think I will try the frozen juice and fruit trick too. Sounds yummy

My hubby and kids love drinking koolaid. So I take a couple drops of that into the bottom of a water bottle and fill it up for me and my 4 yr old doesnt even notice a difference in taste as long as the color is there.

I also like putting some lemon or lime juice to flavor my water too, it makes it taste great and gives it a refreshing flavor especially on a hot Florida Summer day.

I had already tried to keep away from soda’s and sweet tea. I love water and unsweetened tea that’s the best taste, when its sun tea try it. Im glad there are more people who dont drink sweet tea. I went on a trip recently and couldn’t find a glass of unsweetened, I couldn’t believe it.

I really like ice water with lime. The colder the better. So the idea of adding the juice to the water when making ice cubes is really great! I am going to try that one.

I love to add flavored seltzer (no calories or artificial ingredients) to my water to jazz it up, or I add an herbal tea bag. In the summer, I love to toss in a few pieces of frozen fruit to add a little flavor and keep it cool. Yum!
