Broil better
Like grilling, broiling meats can produce delicious results, but can also introduce carcinogens. You can minimize risk by trimming cuts of excess fat before cooking, marinating, cooking at lower temperatures, and broiling only thin, lean cuts to reduce cooking time. Today, challenge yourself to use direct heat to impart maximum flavor, but do it with the preceding safety measures in mind.

It’s fall, and our community celebration is taking place this weekend. Lots of fattening, deep-fried foods to eat, as well as brats, hot dogs, etc.! Am feeling a bit proud because I ate healthy food at home before attending todays’ events. Normally I’d eat something there, trying to justify doing so…you know, it’s only once a year or something along those lines. Well, not this year! I feel so proud.

Ate mostly fruit and veggies today, along with a bowl of hot cereal. This was a meatless day for me — I am proud because I was so tempted to eat a burger with cheese.

I did not meet today’s challenge as I did not cook any meat. But like many people, I trim as much fat off as I can, and buy the leanest cuts my favorite store offers.
