Go on a date

Challenge Yourself for: 24 Hours

In many parts of the world, dates figure prominently in the cuisine, but they’re only now gaining popularity in the U.S. With hundreds of varieties available, from sugary Medjools to nutty Deglet Noors, dates can be enjoyed in myriad ways: sliced into salads, eaten whole, pounded into nuggets with other fruits, blended into juice. Drying preserves the fruit's shelf life, though there’s nothing like the moistness of a fresh date. Today, challenge yourself to whip up a dish with dates – and relish their sweetness and rich, meaty texture.

I found a recipe for date macaroons. It only uses a banana, dates, and coconut – it was very good!!

Date cookies at Christmas time. Yummy! My Grandma makes them every year.

I relish dates but can’t even get dried ones in the rural community I currently live in.

Stuff some dates with pecans (and a mini marshmallow like my Papa used to love) or roll them in a 1/2 strip of bacon and grill or broil until bacon is crisp. The best sticky-salty-sweet treat ever!
