Swear off speed
When it comes to resistance training, rushing through reps isn’t the best way—especially if you’re using momentum instead of muscle power to build strength. Besides potentially not burning as many calories or upping muscle mass, you’re also creating the potential for injury. Why not play it safe and strong? Today, challenge yourself to slow down, adding several seconds to lifting and lowering.

We actually talked about this in my Aerobic Dance class today. This is something that I am really trying to work on. Whether I am walking with weights, lifting weights, working on push-ups or crunches, I try to constantly remind myself that it is not simply “doing it” that is effective, but “doing it correctly.”

I am notorious for rushing through reps just to get done quicker sometimes. Today, when I work my arms, I will slow down and really think about what I’m doing in order to get the most out of my workout. Isn’t that why we do it anyway? We workout to get the most out of it and increase our overall well-being.
