I do allot of subs as long as they are really healthy and not just processed subs.

Instead of buying french fries, I like to thinly slice potatos and add my favorite seasonings. I keep the skin on too, for extra flavor. Then I bake them til they’re crisp and golden. They’re SO much better than fast food!

I love this challenge. I am constantly subbing fruits for desserts and veggies for other snacks. It’s an easy way to incorperate more healthy foods into your diet. I also use applesauce instead of butter in baked goods. In stir-frys and other skillet meals, I use nonstick cooking spray instead of butter and oil too.

Last night I bought some SoDelicious Soy Ice Cream instead of regular ice cream. Much lower in fat and calories and lactose free. The chocolate is really good, but if you want something a bit more complex, the Purely Decadent Soy Ice Cream is totally awesome and has some really good flavors. Cookies and Cream and all the good stuff.

I made a salad with cabbage, yellow tomatoes, green onions and a jalopeno pepper. I added a little bit of salt and pepper for seasoning. I also cooked fresh corn on the cob and it was a great dinner. My husband loved it.

I used to have a huge piece of chocolate cake for dessert. Now I reach for fruit or raisins for that intense sweet flavor after dinner =)

I traded “up” to Kashi crackers. The most important thing to remember is to take out the recommended “serving” and put the rest back. DON’T take the box with you!

I love ice cream at bed time… But I substituted vanilla yogurt and fresh fruit. It satisfied the craving! A couple of other nights I substituted air popped popcorn, it is a nice crunchy snack. And my kids have traded the other ‘granola’ bars for Kashi products and they don’t miss them! Yay! I’ve even got them to eat Kashi cereals! Thanks so much for a healthy alternative.

I love this – single best change we can make for improving a lifestyle without feeling deprived of anything. In fact, I find I usually prefer my substitute to my old “craving!”
