Embrace basic training

Challenge Yourself for: 24 Hours

There’s a reason the military relies on (among other things) workouts that feature short, quick bursts of energy—they work. Maintaining proper form is easier if you’re doing simple but effective exercises like squats, lunges, push-ups, and jumping jacks. Today, challenge yourself to go back to the basics by mastering 3-5 straightforward moves you can insert into any workout, anytime, anywhere.

mlubich5 I have seen the info-mercials for the P90X.. When u were 240lbs how hard was it to do the excercises? AND how long did it take to get down to 165lbs? That's my weight now 240. I want to get to 145-155lbs. I was originally 276# but over the last 3 weeks I got down to 240# eating mostly Kashi foods! Im on the 6wk abs diet for women right now. So far so good!

I try to do pushups and situps every morning as part of my basic marathon training program. I find working the core every day helps me while running. My wife has shown me a great deal of exercises using the exercise ball that have improved my core strenght a great deal.

P90X rocks. I’ve been doing it off an on for the last year. Amazing results. Went from 240 to 165. Good luck, and just keep remembering that it’s worth it.

I’m about to start the P90X. I am doing the Lean Version. It seems to start in bursts of energy like military style. Wish me luck.

I was in the Army six years and have been out for 12 years now. For the past 1 year I have modified my diet (to include more Kashi products) and have gone back to a more regimented workout like when I was in the military. The results have been great and I have dropped from 200lbs to 165lbs and feel so much better. I need to update my profile picture!
