Learn the burn
How many calories do different activities burn? If you’re like us, you’ll be surprised! Some of your favorites may be more beneficial than you think, whereas the ones you dread may be less effective than you’d imagine. Plus, you should learn about “invisible” work like heavy cleaning. Turns out, scrubbing those floors and moldings burns as much as playing soccer. Who knew? Today, challenge yourself to list exactly what you do each week – and find out how much many calories you’re burning. _Always consult a physician before starting any exercise routine._

In addition to faithfully going to the gym at least 5 days @week—resistance 3 days and treadmill (elevated/4.0-4.2mph) or rowing 30-45 minutes 2 days, I’ve been mowing two yards once a week; trying to snack on fruits and drinking at least 6 glasses of water @day. Exhausting at times but makes me feel great!

Hi, I do aerobics 5x/week. one hour sessions. Weight train 3x/week. Hike 2x.mont . I have to see what I can accomplish. I am very happy when I can challange myself. never say “I can’t.”

I took a fifteen minute break and took a walk.
(Also – I’m very active and up and down, but I have a hard time believing that the average person’s day of office work burns 240 calories an hour. Wow. That would mean that after an 8 hour day, a woman would have burned the approximate equivalent to her recommended daily calories! I’d like to know what activities they included in an hour of office work.)

I love to swim laps around the pool for about 30 min. a day, I was surprised to see that it burns around 300 calories. I also walk our dog every day at a brisk pace for about 45 minutes, so I burn 250 calories doing that. On top of that I evercise 5 nights a week for an hour. 2-3 times a week I put the kids in the bike trailer and ride 3-6 miles.

I walked 5 miles 3 times this week feel wonderful. Like to increase this to 5 days a week. I wear a pedometer and love to see how many steps it took me.

I bought a new pedometer and am tracking my walking.

I ran 6 miles. I am not sure how many calories that is…

Did an hour of strength training and 20 minutes of cardio to burn 888 calories.

I like to run 1 or 2 miles everyday, do some weight lifting while watching TV, and I walk my dog 2 miles every day. Often I go on hikes with my friends or swimming, or walk to the local market or a friend’s house. I also do strength training every other day, to help my body become stronger and burn more calories. My favorite calorie-burner, though, is an intense game of soccer. I’ll have to check all of these. :)

I jogged on the elliptical for 115 minutes today and burned roughly 1400 calories. The problem is I heard from health experts if you do the same workout over and over again your muscles get adapted to the workout and you burn less calories over time, although the meter reading still says the same. Furthermore, experts also say that a wrong posture you can lead to a 25% fewer calorie expenditure. All I know is I did a lot and it gave me a rush of beta-endorphins. Plus, exercise speeds up your metabolism so we are still burning more calories than the coach potatoes even after our workout.
