Well… not only I’m a working full-time Mom, but I’m a single Mom, and I had my son at 39 years old… So, not only the preassure to get fit again, but also the fear I would not be able to get back in shape ever, got me back at the gym 2 weeks and a half after birth!

I hired a trainer to help me get started and also to learn a few new exercises ( I won’t lie, I did already know my way around free weights and low carb diets). I went to the gym 5 weekdays for 1 1/2 hour after husband (still together at the time) got home from work, working out with awesome trainer twice a week for the 3 months I stayed home with my son. I also went once during weekend.

During the next 9 months while ex-hubby and I worked our way through divorce but still living in same house, he let me have the 1 and 1/2 hour after work to go to gym, allowing me to work out 6 days per week, while he picked up our son at daycare. In exchange, the whole time we were under same roof since our son’s birth, he never woke up at night to feed or change our kid. I had no problems with that… He was not a night person but to compensate, he let me sleep late on weekends. It was a great deal, we had… Oh, well…

Now my only time to workout is during lunch time for 45 minutes on weekdays and more time on Saturday with gym daycare.

I was 140-145 5’7” tall before pregnancy. Got as big as 180 since I did not deny myself anything (lucky me my cravings were every fruit I could imagine, cereal and milk). When I weighed myself on 1st day at gym I was 160 (my boy was big and very tall). In 5 months I was 135. In 7 months I was 127 with a six pack and trimmed as I never dreamed I could be.

Now I’m about to turn 42 in October; I’m 135 with six pack but no so trimmed. I eat healthy every day and wach the carbs but don’t deny myself a treat a couple of days a week; I still workout 6 days a week and intend to always do so (it feels like I’m taking advantage of every minute of the day!)

Unlike what they are saying in this challenge, I know that if I haven’t started early after birth, I would have not made it so well and I would have not been able to keep in shape and know I got in it so right that it feels normal and the way to be to the rest of my phisical active life… I’m thinking I can keep this up until I’m 55, and then might need to sit down and change workout, diet, and whatever else…

By then my son will be 15 and I hope he will be proud of his Mom and use my example to plan a healthy and always active life… And that was my real motivation to get fit/healthy

My son is 10.5 months old. I need to get myself in gear, but have had a nagative feeling about not getting back in shape as fast as some of the other new moms I know. Getting activities scheduled that involved the whole family or me and my son are key. I do not have nor do I wish to have this time as “me” time. I work full time and want to spend as much time as I can with my family. Unless I make this time work for me physically as well, it will not be successful.
