Pick up sticks
Have a fireplace? Rather than buying all your wood at the supermarket, why not try gathering a little too? Wood gathering is a great way to get out and moving during winter, especially with family and friends. Walking, bending and picking up twigs, branches, and kindling is really great exercise. Today, challenge yourself to get outside and pick up sticks. For added fun – make it a game by offering a reward to the best gatherer. _Always consult a physician before starting any exercise routine._

I enjoy gathering wood when I’m camping in the mountains, but sometimes we have to bring our own. Just a word of caution to read signs and check out any local regulations. In some local, state or national parks, wood gathering isn’t allowed.
we don’t have a fire place but i like to have bonfires and have friend’s over,so this will give me a chance to get outside and get some exercise and maybe get my boyfriend involved too.
we also heat with wood, only we split it the old “elbow grease” way! And it’s time again to fill the wood box, split kindling and keep warm!
our primary heat is a wood stove..not only do we have to ‘pick up sticks’ but we are quite busy splitting logs on the log splitter!!!
