On days that I accidentally forget my cell phone at home, it is actually kind of freeing. This challenge seems pretty much impossible for me on a work day, so I’ll try it sometime over this long holiday weekend.

This step is vital. I have gone 3 months without alcohol and need to be able to control my emotions for continued well-being. Having a way to retreat from electronic annoyances, traffic, and rude intrusions of any kind, is most welcome. Putting on quiet music while waiting for trains to cross, or going the long way through rural areas instead of using interstates is helpful. While waiting in line at the grocery store, it’s more relaxing to read a magazine that’s being sold there and put it back, than to silently seethe at the moron with too many items, screaming kids, or a check-writing problem.
