Make an environment-friendly suggestion at work

Lots of us have suggestion boxes at work where we can share our insights and ideas. In the next 24 hours, think of different ways your office (or office policies) might be improved to help save the environment. Then submit your ideas to a person in-charge.

To get you started thinking, here are some ideas: 1) implement a recycling bin in the kitchen or copy room, 2) subsidize public transportation, 3) create a carpooling schedule.

I encourage people in the San Francisco Bay Area to check out the Commuter Check Program.

I placed a printer ink cartridge recycle box in our company’s break room; visit www.hp.com/recycle to get a Free recycle box for your office’s hp ink cartridges, it arrives with a paid return postage label, so once you fill the box you can send it back to HP for free. Another good option for charity: www.cartridgesforkids.com

o work at starbucks. one of our guiding principles is to contribute positively to our environment. we recycle all of our paper, glass bottle, and milk jugs in addition to the coffee grounds we bag up. it reduces our waste. you may even encourage your place of employment to set up a small area for recycling. I convince a lot of people I work with to save their food and what not for a compost pile located at an urban garden.

Here at work we’ve started recycling. It’s wonderful. Our local recycling facility will even make a special trip to our shop just to pick up the tons of cardboard we save for them. It’s even started to save us money on our garbage dump.

I guess you can say i am now obsessed with recycling. Does anyone know of any companies that recycle old ink pens or crayons and stuff like that? I hate to throw them away. Everybody probably has a whole drawer full of ink pens that won’t ever get used. If you know of anywhere that does this please email me at hollensl@aol.com
Thanx, amy jo
