Respect your sleep space
The National Sleep Foundation says stimulating devices like TVs, computers and workstations have no business in our sleeping quarters. And where kids are concerned, the American Academy of Pediatrics backs them up, calling healthy bedrooms a “media-free zone.”
Today, challenge yourself to protect your family’s sleep by removing all electronic devices from your bedrooms and relocating them to a neutral part of the house.

This one was easy for me.
ahhh, not gonna be easy for this kid… i have too much work… and homework to not keep my laptop out of my sleeping area. :( if i can’t sleep i work for an hour or so
only a tv in our bedroom…and on my husband’s side of the room (i’d rather not have any tvs in the house). no computer in the bedroom. tiny electric alarm clock. otherwise, nice and dark at night.
sleep is my best friend! keep the challenges coming
We have a tv in the bedroom, but it is never watched at bedtime.
we nwver have electronics or anything on while trying to go to sleep
easy one for me….
With no TV or computer in the bedroom, I sleep better. Going to bed to go to sleep is a good habit.
I have to opt out of challenging myself on this one. I can remove my computer, and my tv/xbox, but I’d need an ipod or radio. I can’t sleep in silence. I’ve tried, but if I’m laying there in silence my mind tends to wander and I start thinking, which leads to me staying up much later than I’d ever want to. So I usually have iTunes up listening to ocean waves or the rain forest. If not that, then I’ll pop a DVD in and turn the volume down to the point where I think the TV is on downstairs.
This one took a while for me to get to, but I finally managed to do it! Spent the weekend going through my room pulling out everything that’s unneccesary. It’s so nice to walk into a clean, organized space at night, and to wake up in the morning to peace….
Sorry guys I have tried this before I will be up all night staring at walls if I dont have anything on for noise, I wake up to many times because of a serious back injury.
Yep-I’m already “media-free” in my room and plan on doing the same for the kid’s pronto. I’ll replace the electronic entertainment with reading. :) I must agree that removing the distractions helps me wind down more effectively. Quiet is the lost element in our lives today….sometimes keeping the TV off is the best therapy.
