Opt for paperless billing

Over the next couple days, check in with your bank, utility companies, credit card companies, and insurance providers — or any other place that issues you a monthly statement. Ask them if they can switch you over to paperless billing. It’s a great way to save a few trees.

(We’ve given you 7 days to accomplish this task. When you log your progress, you only need to log as many – or as few – days as you think are applicable.)

I always liked the control of writing my own checks and sending them whenever I felt like it. There’s some feeling of a loss of control when it comes to just leaving it in the hands of the companies to take it our of your bank account or credit card. But…for the sake of the environment and so that I don’t get a packet full of useless paper every month…I’m doing everything direct deposit for ever bill that I possibly can.

I pay my bills and do all of my banking online! My student loans statement is also viewed and paid online!

I only receive one bill in the mail from the Cable company. I will go to that website and switch to paperless billing. Don’t think that I can stop my bank statements but will check into it.

I’ve done paperless billing since 1988 when the only option was TELEPHONE bill pay. I dislike paper clutter.

Using my bank’s web billing capability, I was finally able to reduce the last two items that I needed to pay via paper check through the mail to zero. ALL of my bills are paid electronically; I have most of them set to automatic payment. One of the payoffs is that the records are available online at any time—no more searching through a stack of papers for the electric bill from three months ago!!

Many of my bills are now paperless. I feel good about saving a few trees, however I would like all billing done online and it would really make a huge dent in saving paper. Not that I have many bills just, that many other bills not offering online billing. And we really need drastic changes to make the kind of difference required to save forests.
