Challenge Yourself for: 24 Hours

Fermented foods like miso, kimchi and tempeh aren’t just uniquely delicious – they’re nutritional powerhouses. Why? Probiotics. These so-called “good” bacteria are vital to keeping your digestive system healthy and happy, and fermented foods are full of them. Today, challenge yourself to broaden your palate by tasting a fermented food. Easier yet: Dine at an Asian restaurant and order one (miso, tempeh and kim chi play prominent roles in Japanese, Chinese and Korean cuisines).

I love miso and kim chi….I’ll enjoy making more miso soup for dinner. Tempeh is still an acquired taste for me….I think I need to learn more effective and tasty ways to prepare it.

Since I don’t have any ingriedents to make kim chi or miso at home and I’m not going out, I guess that I will just have to be happy that i eat a yogurt with a probiotic already in it. I hope this counts towards todays challenge.

I love tempeh! My husband makes an amazing tempeh reuben sandwich that is absolute heaven! I’ve never tried miso before, but there’s a first time for everything!
