Workout in the pool
Do you run? Try it in the shallow end of a lap pool. Stretching is another option, as is plyometrics (leaping against the force of gravity, or in this case, water weight). Kickboxing fans, take note: Every roundhouse will be harder underwater. The next time you workout, challenge yourself to get into your swimsuit and spend at least 15 minutes walking, running or kicking underwater. _Always consult a physician before starting any exercise routine._

I finally listened to my Doc. I have 2 bad knees and have been getting shots in the knees for the last few years. I’m a canidate for both knees replaced but I have other medical problems, CHF, HBP, Diebetis type 2 among other things. I finally joined a health club and have been working out in the pool, 2 to 3 times a week, 1 hour each time. I had forgotten the benefits a pool can give you. My pain is less and I can bend both knees. The trainer said in 2 weeks I’ll be able to start the aerobics and then to the treadmill. I’m on my way to pain free knees.
I love the water :)
i was injured a few years ago in a car accident and i find it very hard to keep my fitness where it needs to be so that i can maintain my strength and muscle tone. recently i changed to a new physician who has insisted that i join a pool and swim at least 3 times a week. it’s fabulous as you don’t feel pain as much while in the water so it’s easier to exercise. i need to work on keeping myself motivated to get to the pool as it does help tremendously
I am taking a class to learn how to swim on Thursdays and a circuit class at the pool on Tuesdays. I did not go this week, that’s two weeks in a row. I need to go every week until Christmas, that is my goal from now on. I really love it. The circiut class gives you cardio and toning. If you have a noodle for the pool, you can bicycle and work your abs at the same time by putting the noodle between your legs and balancing on it. It will hold you up!!!! It was so great the first time. It was the first time I ever went in water over 4 feet deep.
Try synchronized swimming! You’ve never had such a great workout. It really is a sport for life, too. A little bit more challenging than water aerobics, but I think that the fun of flipping all around and really seeing your progress is totally worth the extra effort.
I really enjoy working out in the pool. I also do walking and skipping in the shallow end.
I do a lot of ballet exercises at the side of the pool to warm up and stretch before walking and skipping.
I’ve been walking in the water for 6 months now. I walk forward, backwards, and sideways. I have really been amazed at the different muscles that are affected. I discovered water arobics many years ago and have been exercising there when ever I could.
