Challenge Yourself for: 24 Hours

Ankles work hard for our bodies. They propel us upward, absorb shock and accommodate an awesome array of lateral and vertical motions. In short, it’s important to be mindful of them during your workout. That way, they’ll continue to serve you for years to come.

The next time you workout, challenge yourself to take care of your ankles by trying one of these techniques:
• Stretch and loosen them, especially around the calf and Achilles tendon.
• Wear well-made, supportive shoes with a strong heel counter.
• Strengthen your core and balancing skills.
• Tape and brace injuries per your healthcare provider’s advice.
• Choose a workout surface that doesn’t stress your joints.

Always consult a physician before starting any exercise routine.

Just sitting at the computer and rotating your ankles in both directions gives your feet a “refresher.” Try it!

work your ankles in a complete ROM while you are working on the computer and it will keep them from swelling as well as keep them in shape.

A good thing to do, to really stretch your ankles, is to draw the alphabet with each. I used to do that, because I have weak ankles.

I travel by plane a lot, and I find it helps to do those (sometimes silly) looking exercises in the plane magazines – the ankle rotation exercises and stretches are really great!

Thanks for the advice. Stretching before exercise was wonderful, stretched them again afterward and it really felt good

Before I get up from my bed I sit on the side of my bed and I move
my feet rotating my ankles in both directions. And as I go to stand
up. I say thank you Lord Jesus!

Exercising my ankles is one of my favorites! I stand on my feet all day and it is amazing to come home and stretch it all out!!! :-)
