Take up fitness geography
When it comes to exercise, every region has its benefits and challenges. Finding out what your area has to offer – and what activities present obstacles – can help you develop a routine you can stick to. For example, in sunbelt states, outdoor activities are better saved for early mornings or after dusk. Hilly locales provide great opportunities for hiking and walking – but only if you have already achieved the stamina needed to tackle them safely.
This weekend, challenge yourself to do some thinking about your town’s fitness-friendly points – geography, outdoor and indoor offerings, climate, hours of daylight and safety statistics. Use what you learn to build a solid routine. Bonus point: Next time you travel, do the same for your destination.
Always consult a physician before starting any exercise routine.

In Laramie we have mountain ranges on both the east and west side of town. It is my goal to hike in one or the other at least twice a month during the spring, summer, and fall
