Shop at an ethnic supermarket

Mastering ethnic or foreign cuisines doesn’t have to be intimidating – if you start in the right place. Exploring an ethnic supermarket is a great way to familiarize yourself with ingredients you have only heard about. And talking to fellow shoppers or the store owner also really helps. Challenge yourself to shop outside the box by visiting an exotic grocery store.

I shop about once a month at the only oriental supermarket in Wilmington, NC. I remember the first time I shopped at one back when I lived in the Northern VA area. It seemed so strange…the smells and so many food labels not in English. Thank goodness there was always a helpful clerk to help me find what I wanted. ha, ha!
