I have intestinal problems so I have been put on a strict diet of low fats ” like butter and animal fats” and low sugar. I am in college so it is hard for me to find things to eat in the dining hall. There are always sevral options but half the time I dont know whats in the food I am eating. Any ideas for healthy lunch? Dinner?

Hi Amyers, why not try chocolate soy milk, it’s yummy. Any ideas on how to jazz up a hurried 1/2 hour lunch?

What is the best way to add soy to a diet? I like the crunch of soy nuts but the taste is a little bland.

I always have the same stuff for lunch-same as lisayartetts88- hummus and vegetables on a wheat wrap with an apple, carrots and sparkling water. I gotta tell ya, I am bored to tears with this meal, but I eat it because I feel it’s harder to find something else as delicious. I attempted to go to my local sandwich shop instead for their “veggie” sandwich on whole wheat, and found, to my dismay, that it the bread was in fact, NOT made from whole wheat! How frustrating! Now I’m a little wigged out to try anything that I don’t make myself-can’t trust sneaky marketing!

I eat lunch when I get home around 2pm. I usually have a hummus and vegetable sandwich on wheat toast. It is delicious! Phokis83 – you should try all the meat substitutes that are out there – there is veggie everything now!! I am a vegetarian, and its hard to live with meat eaters even though I dont like meat. I always made two dinners, one for me, one for them. I would pick certain days to be meat free – if you plan ahead, it may make it easier. Also try finding meatless foods you love so that you wont miss the meat. Make sure you are still getting enough protein – your body may be missing it when you go meatless. I still eat beans, eggs, nuts and soy to get my protein. I hope this helps and good luck!!!

Lunch is always an issue for me because I get home from work around 2. I haven’t eaten since 5am except a few snacks like dried fruit or whole grain/rice crackers so I’m usually really hungry but super tired. It’s a challenge for me to slow down, think smart, and take time to enjoy a light meal.

i am a die hard meat eater attempting to become a vegetarian. i am also buying all organic foods and snacks as often as possible. so on that note, any advice on going veg would be great! i live with a pack of wild carnivores, im doing solo and so far its been quite difficult. ive managed to eat a lot less meat and more veggies hoping that one day it will be no meat, but two months and no luck. please help a struggling meat addict.

Any suggestions for a vegetarian with a nut allergy, including families of nuts – rhubarb, avacado, mango ect. I eat a lot of beans, soy based products – which are very good – but the nutrition bars frequently use nuts as protein. Thanks

As for the lunch rut part, try substituting various different healthier options. Make things easier on yourself by preparing your lunches for the week at home on the weekends. Try using cereal in ziploc baggies as snacks, use a hearty fiber rich cereal and feel fuller longer. Also using proteins every meal helps fight the urge to munch, things like unsalted raw nuts, or seeds. Also a lower fat or reduced fat peanut butter on a slice of whole wheat high fiber bread works well also. Don’t forget those baby carrots and handy apple slices either, both great on the go. x:)

I’m a mom of two, a four year old and a 4 month old. It’s hard to make healthy lunches. I need something I can grab and eat while carrying the baby. Lately I’ve just been eating some of the kashi bars for lunch!
