Bring on the broth
Broth is a healthful cooking staple that adds extra flavor foods. It’s a great addition to your cooking repertoire because it enables you to reduce your salt intake when you use low sodium versions. It’s also great for cutting extra fat and calories that come from creams without sacrificing taste. Today, challenge yourself to find a recipe that uses broth.

I’ve made a large pot of chicken and tomato broth soup. I’ve included vegetables, seasonings, spices, brown rice, and some lean chicken breats pieces. This is delicious!
I eat it with a fresh salad and fruit. Plus, lots of WATER!!!
I LOVE MAKING MY OWN HOMEMADE MUSHROOM BROTH. IT ADDS GREAT FLAVOR TO EVERYTHING I COOK. OR MAKES YOU FEEL BETTER IF YOUR ILL. AND UNLIKE ALL THOSE STORE BOUGHT BROTHS MINE HAS VIRTUALLY NO SODIUM. I TAKE A LARGE POT OF WATER, ADD SOME CLEANED MUSHROOM STEMS, GARLIC, SHALLOTS, AND PEPPER, THEN AT THE END, WHEN IT COOLS OFF I ADD SOME FRESH HERBS LIKE CHIVES THEN FREEZE THE USING ICE CUBE TRAYS. THEN WHEN NEEDED I JUST THAW THEM OUT PRETTY QUICKLY. MMM… SOOO GOOD!!
I use low sodium chicken broth in recipes to replace or reduce the oil, especially when frying!
I’ve been doing this for a while now. Broth adds great flavor to plain ol rice. I use half water and half broth. Tastes great!!!
I use organic broth. I add frozen, canned, or fresh veggies and a packagea of rice or pasta with the seasoning included. I add leftover meat or a can of chicken. In 10 minutes I have a pot of soup. My husband can eat the whole pot. I get credit for being a great cook and it was so simple.
I add broth to my brown rice when I make it instead of just plain water. I also chill my left over broth from par boiling chicken to make a vegetable chicken soup the next day.
I steam small cut up potatoes in broth, then I add onions, spinach, a tablespoon of butter, and a little cheese. It makes a taste side dish.
I am a vegetarian and use vegetable broth in a lot of my cooking.
I drop a package of ramen noodles (hello-junk food my boyfriend can’t live without) or rice noodles in a can of broth. then dump in some frozen veggies. Then throw in an egg at the end, or some frozen shrimp if your feeling fancy. This is my at work dinner a lot & I get lots of envious looks! & its so easy I have time to make it & eat in on my 1/2 hour break!
I cook pasta and rice in broth – beef or chicken based on what we are having it with. It makes whole wheat pasta and brown rice tastier so husband and kids enjoy it without realizing they are being “healty”. I also cook frozen veggies in beef broth with sliced onion. Brussel sprouts are my fave.
I add chicken broth to the water when i cook pasta. This adds flavor to the oasta & seems to fill us up sooner. We don’t eat as much, I thnk, because there is more flavor!
