Shortlist nutritious restaurants

There’s no doubt about it: Dining out can compromise healthy eating habits. What to do? One idea is to create a list of restaurants with nutritious options. Another option is to go to your favorite restaurants and see if nutrition information is available for items on the menu. (Some items can sound healthier than they really are.) The next time you’re dining out, challenge yourself to look at the menu with an eye for healthful meals. Then, when you get home start a list.

One of my favorite restaurants is reasonably healthy, so I’m mostly covered on this one. I don’t do fast food, so …

I love to look up menus online before I go places and find out what they have that I can eat. I LOVE sushi, but I usually ask if they have brown rice instead of white (sometimes they do!). I also love Thai food, which is easy to make healthy because it’s already mostly veggies in light sauces, anyway!
If I have to eat fast-food, I usually stop by a Jamba Juice or other smoothie place and get a 100% only fruit smoothie (no frozen yogurt, etc). Most smoothie places will make any creation of smoothie you like, and it’s easy if you use all fruits! A shot of spirulina or wheatgrass usually isn’t a bad idea, either!

www.dwlz.com has nutritional info for many restaurants. It has Weight Watchers points, but includes calories, fat, and fiber.

So, I LOVE the interenet for this reason. Almost every Restaurant…or fast food chain has the nutritional info on their respective websites. It is easy to read and you could plan out what you are int mood for and check out the total calories…if it is way too much, you could check the calories and substitute for a healthier option.
Believe it or not, sometimes a SALAD is not the healthiest option…so check it out.

fast food is hard; however, places WILL work w/you now and even the ‘worst’ of the worst can be OK! EVERY thing in moderation w/healthy options is my motto!!!!!

I like red lobster and find it easy to make healthy choices. Olive garden is also very good.

I like to look up restaurant info online before visiting so I know what healthy dishes to order.
