Get bold with mold

Challenge Yourself for: 24 Hours

If commercial products and chlorine bleaches don’t appeal to you as healthy mold killers (and why would they?), think about mixing your own product. The next time you clean your house, challenge yourself to give one of these easy recipes a try: • Several spoonfuls of tea tree oil in a spray bottle of water (tea tree is a natural fungicide) • White vinegar (spray and soak) • Citrus seed extract in a water base Or, do a little research and mix your own mold cleaning solution.

I use white vinegar diluted with spring water or distilled water to clean food, laundry, and my home. When I travel I use a product by North Amrican Herb I Spice called “Orega Spray” it contains Emulsified oil of wild oregano P73, oil of wild lavender, oil of wild bay leaf and oil of clove. I spray my hands and the air around me on planes, it has reduced my episodes of colds and flu like symptoms when I am out in public. It can also be used to kill the strep virus…yes you can swallow it. My motto is: If you can’t put it IN your body don’t put it ON your body. This is a great product, evnironmentally friendly.

I spritz my roasting pan with white vinegar and let it sit overnight with the lid on then hand wash it in the morning. It comes out looking new every time.

white vinegar has always had my vote for a friendly cleaner. husband has asthma so the idea of using bleach products or similar in the home are out of the question. white vinegar is also economical, not just environmentally friendly.

Sounds like we are all members of the WHITE VINEGAR CLUB!!

When shopping at the club store people are always asking me what I am doing with so many gallons of vinegar, just love the opportunity to share the virtues of vinegar.

White vinegar also works to remove odors. My son is a line cook in a resturant and vinegar really works to get the food odors out of his clothes.

I learned a few years back that vinegar is a better cleaning agent than most shelved items in the store…and since then, I keep a large bottle handy for refilling my spray bottle. The kids say the house smells like pickles, but I tell them…Hey It’s Clean!!

WHITE VINEGAR IS AWESOME. IT TAKES STAINS OUT OF YOUR CLOTHES. GREAT TO MIX IN A BOWL WITH WATER, PUT BOWL IN MICROWAVE AND HEAT UP FOR A COUPLE MINUTES AND LET STAND 5 MINUTES AND TAKE A CLOTH AND VOILA- IT’S CLEAN !!!!!!

I have used vinegar before to clean my wood floors. Works great there! Didn’t know it was a mold killer. Where’s that shower curtain!

I am always making my own products. I belong to a club and we had a many course on making our own products at home that are greener and really better. The best thing I can tell you though when you are mixing your own is label, label, label. Even if you know what they are they are still dangerous when mixed together and if swallowed by a child you must know what you have.

I do find that people with cats in the household should be extremely careful with tea tree oil products. The scent will drive a cat completely nuts. I still have the scars from the last time I tried using a tea-tree lotion on my hands. Scratches and bites are just the beginning.
Probably better to use the citrus extract.

What I did was fill a small bottle with white distilled vinegar and added a few 5 drops of lemon and grapefruit oil…shook it up and applied to our moldy smelling wood table. Smells fresh…for the time being, but I’ll try the tea tree oil in h20 if my vinegar/citrus oil concoction fails.
