Conquer a 5K

Lots of us think about running a 5K but never do it. What holds us back? The physical challenge can be intimidating. But if you can run two miles or so you can prepare with just six weeks of training (and a good pair of running shoes). Get a friend to join you and the time will fly by. And don’t forget, you can walk a 5K too. Challenge yourself to something you’ll be proud of for the rest of your life. Always consult a physician before starting any exercise routine.

I hate running, but I would like to challenge myself with this.

I ran several 5K’s about four years ago. I’ve run on and off since but I haven’t been able to get back to where I was. I want to get back into the groove!

GO FOR IT! I ran my first 5K almost 20 years ago. Since then I have be in over 60 road races. Sometimes, when I was 75 lbs. heavier, I walked in them instead of running. With 25 lbs. to go to my goal weight I’m back to running again. I have a 5K coming up on May 31 and I have already registered for the 2009 Disney World Marathon. That will allow me to realize my lifetime dream of running in a marathon. I used to hate running too, Anthonysarchangel and to some degree I still do, however I LOVE the feeling I get after running and that is why I continue to do it. Good luck to you all!

I’m already on a traack team so this shouldn’t be too hard, but I’m still going to work at it some more after practice.

Hi! I started running a few weeks ago, and it’s been slow progress, but this website is great. I needed help starting from scratch and I’m really enjoying this running plan!

I’m planning to run a 5K on May 31st. I’ve been running about 3 days a week for the last 3 weeks. I’m up to about 2 1/2 miles, but my knee has been giving me some trouble. I guess it’s hard to start running at age 39+!!! But I’m going to do my best.

I started running in February, but then mid-April I was going through a lot of stress and stopped. I should’ve kept running and perhaps ran more to help get through the stress but made the wrong choice. I am looking forward to starting up again with this challenge!

My running days are far in the past since I tore the tendons in my ankle. But my walking days are here and now. I still do a 5K now and then. But most of my walking is in Marathons for 26.2 miles. So far I have 35 Marathons and plan to do the USAF Marathon for the 11th time in Sept.

I did it! Ran my 3.1 miles in just under 32 minutes. No world record, but it felt like a victory to me!

Good Luck at Disney, cheleTKD. The Mickey Mouse medal is great. I have a Donald Duck one for the half Marathon. You need to let us know how you do. Just think, you will become a member of a very elite group, Marathoners.
