Screen your sun protection
Summer’s coming: Time to dig out that sunscreen bottle and give it the once-over. The active ingredients in sunscreens lose efficacy after three years, so it’s important to check their expiration dates. Today, challenge yourself to go through your drawers and make sure you’re well-protected from the sun.
(Note: The science behind sunscreens changes rapidly as FDA approves new agents, so it’s a good idea to stay informed about the latest and greatest. Here’s more information about protecting yourself from the sun.)
It’s starting to heat up around here! Time to lather on the sunscreen.
I just got totally burned the other day. I forgot how painful it is. Yikes!
I actually just found my sunscreen today! I bought it last fall @ walmart for $1, and it’s good til 09/2009!
I just bought new sunscreen – time to definately start using it on me and my kids
I am constantly stocking up on sunscreen. I burn so easily, and love to be out at the pool. Remember to wait at least 15 minutes before going out in the sun after you apply it, and re-apply it after being in the water for an hour.
I found this really informative website from the Environmental Working Group’s Skin Deep Cosmetic Database. They did an investigation of almost 1000 brand-name sunscreen products to find out what they contained and whether they worked. Check out their findings (they’re pretty scary):
