To learn to love running, first run outdoors. I learned to enjoy running by listening to music that I like and that has a great beat. Enjoy the world around you and take different paths when you run, I like to run outdoors. But please do not ask me to run on a treadmill unless I have a TV with a very good program to watch. The weather where I live is only good for running 50% of the year. I love to run but I really dislike running on a treadmill.

I got a Wii fit and it does give you a workout with strength traning and cardio. Other than that everyday I plan to work in some running or other cardio to burn my fat and then found some exercises that work most all muscle groups but are aimed at increasing my vertical leap for volleyball so it gives me motivation now to want to tone up AND get better for volleyball. So for all of you out there maybe try finding another motivation that distracts you from the fact that you’re exercising.

Part of my goal is to go to the pool and swim laps. But I’m so embarrassed to be seen in my swimsuit. But swimming laps really is the best workout for me (along with some weights and treadmill at home) but I can’t make myself get to the pool. And the point of the pool is so that I can look good in a swimsuit. It’s a vicious circle that I was about to get over, until I had my wisdom teeth taken out today and told to not exercise for the next couple days!

My best friend and I have started going to the gym together so it’s more like a social engagement and less like work. Also we’re there to motivate each other if we feel tired or lazy.

I have a membership in Bally’s Fitness for 3 years now and I love it!!!! But I must admit I slack off a lot in the winter because it so cold. To remedy that I have an exercise ball, 3 and 5 pounds weghts, and have created a workout on the cmputer from Fitness.com to work out at home on the days I cannot make it to the gym.

I am an avid distance runner but sometimes need to dig deep to find the extra motivation to extend my training runs and put in those extra miles. I am training with Team in Training to support the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society now which has helped me set some great goals. Now I not only want to reach my fundraising commitment, but also want to qualify for the Boston Marathon! Now I have two big goals and I know if I work hard I can reach them both!

I run 2 miles each day before work and some days it hard to find the motivation. What works for me is taking a deep breath, completely clearing my mind and taking in the sights and sounds of nature. Not only do I find the strength to get through my run, it puts me in a better mood and helps me fight fatigue throughout the day.

I have such a hard time waking up in the morning(6 am is early enough)and in the evenings my husband works and I am tired chasing around my 22 month old along with the 13 hours a day with 5 other children in my daycare.I really need to find the motivation to get up a bit earlier to find the extra time in my day

Saba, Mocha just logging in here everyday will help will keep you accountable. When I first started working out at home my kids laughed at me and so did my husband, it made me made but didn’t make me stop. When they started to see progress they stopped laughing and started working out with me, they get under my feet sometimes but it’s worth it. I don’t really like going to the gym, I work out at home usually at 5:30 a.m. if I want to be the only one in the living room. Start out slow and log everyday even when you didn’t do anything that day ; )

I feel that my challenge is having time to exercise. I have a daycare and run after little ones all day. With my health issues (heart) I have to watch being over tired. I try to get in a 30 minute bike ride at least twice a week. My little ones like to dance so we dance at least 30 -45 minutes 3 times a week.

I think my biggest challenge to exercising is making the time. I am a stay-at-home-mom and work as a freelance graphic designer during nap times and after my little one goes to bed (gotta pay the bills somehow). So, when I’m busy with work, my work-out is the first thing to go. I am a member of a gym though, and the guilt associated with paying for a membership and not going usually motivates me to make time a few times a week.

I had gastric bypass surgery in October and have lost 75 lbs. Exercising is so difficult because of the time cmmitment but I really need to! I have joined a health club and go to water aerobic classes twice a week and walk onthe other days. I really need to increase my activity to try to build some muscle. Any suggestions?

It’s so easy to forget that small changes can be significant. I wear ankle weights throughout the day. You really can’t tell I have them on under my dress pants. I can really tell the difference when I take them off at the end of the day. My legs are more toned. But I have hit a plateau with weight loss. SO I am bored and frustrated.

I have never liked exercise and have never really struggled with my weight. I know it is good for me, but after having 3 kids, I’m still 127 lbs (at 5’6”). Don’t get me wrong… that 127 lbs. is not looking the same as it did before the kiddos! ;) I’m active, play with my kids, but no formal exercise b/c I just don’t like it. So, instead of committing to exercise, I’ve committed to run a 5K and have started training 3 days/week. I download podcasts and let the guy tell me what to do… that cures my lack of knowledge on what to do. :) I have been doing it for 2 weeks and I’m finding that I enjoy that time… it’s only 30 mins., so it’s do-able to me! :) Good luck to all… remember, even a small change is a change! :)

I am a family person, and so I do not like to go to the gym because I do not get to spend time with my family. Also, my family is not into exercise, but I am. If I can find a way around this, then I will be headed in the right direction. P.S hey mtbchick, have you tried edemamme (soy beans)? I like them steamed with a touch of sea salt, and their a good protien snack.

I was not great at working out. I was self conscious at the gym and lazy at home. I’ve recently started a challenge to work out three days a week and I really like it. I tend to find the strength to do it even through the pain. It hasn’t been long but keep your fingers crossed for me. I think this challenge might be the one that helped me find my inner strength!

Hardest thing for me at the gym was moving from just cardio to weight lifting as well. I did it though and my body is finally becoming longer and leaner. I feel strong — yoga has become SO much easier. I still feel a little self-conscious because I’m often the only woman in there, but it’s not as bad as I had expected and the weights don’t bulk as much as they strengthen my body. Yeah!

I travel for a majority of the month and eating out really kills my healthy eating habits! I try to keep carrots and hummus close and when I have a fridge or micro, I choose Kashi foods. Does anyone have any suggestions to carve time out of an 18 hour day to exercise and also what eating tips do you recommend when the food is supplied???
