Dare to spare the air
National Clean Air Month is a great time to remind ourselves that global change starts with each and every one of us. Today, challenge yourself to do something – big or small – to spare the air. Some ideas: bike to work, carpool, opt out of unnecessary air travel, and buy local produce.
I buy produce from a local farmers market and we have been eating out al ot less lately to cut back on drive time.
I walked up and down my street and my sister’s picking up bags full of trash people have tossed out of their cars. also i buy all my produce thats grown and sold in town.
we buy as much local produce as we can, plus i even have some young produce of my own growing as we speak.
i take the bus instead of driving to school, because it will come even if i’m not there, so why not?
i try to take the bus whenever possible but it isn’t always practical with my schedule. however we recently found farmers markets in the area for every day of the week. we try to car pool whenever possible and always try to conserve electricity because most of it comes from fossil fuels. it’s really simple to unplug your cell phone charger when your not using it and if everyone did it could really add up!
Not sure if this counts but I don’t use hairspray and I’m switching to more eco friendly cleaners =)
Since moving to Australia, I’ve learned how earth friendly most people are and have learned a lot of great stuff:
Instead of driving, I walk everywhere! It’s helped me to loose so much weight as well…
Instead of using the plastic bags at the local market, I use cloth bags or buy a couple at the store for an extra 50 cents… I even leave them in my sons stroller and the car as well.
I use Eco friendly cleaners and when I am done with the laundry or dishes I recycle the water to feed my plants.
