Observe speed limits

Submitted by SiteEditor Read more daily challenge, eco-friendly, energy savers, and living responsibly
Challenge Yourself for: 24 Hours

Speedy driving can lower your fuel economy by as much as 33% on the highway and 5% on city streets. In the next 24 hours, cut down on your energy consumption by obeying the speed limit.
Other pro-mileage tips:
• Reduce excess vehicle weight by removing unnecessary items (100 lbs. reduces MGP by 2%)
• Avoid idling
• Use cruise control and overdrive gears

This is a great reminder especially now with gas prices so high. Keeping the speed limit is good and it helps with probably fewer accidents as well.

I have been setting my cruise control on 65. for the past month. this is either the speed limit or 5 miles below the limit. I drive a hybrid and have increased my milage form 36 MPG to 46-47 MPG. I rarely pass anyone, maybe a few trucks saving fuel. It has been absolutly amazing every once in a while other will not pass me and just join in behind. it coste me about 10 minutes on my commute to and from work. sall price to pay.

Yay, I can finally feel good about my sticking to the speed limit. It is hilarious when people speed pass me only for me to catch up to them at a red light. I really like two-lane roads too. I can slow down to exactly 25 mph in the neighborhood and watch the people suffer behind me.

I’ve been doing this for years now. I still can’t believe all the people speeding by when gas is so high!

Before i retired, i biked to work. My husband and I have a trailer for or bikes and we use it to go to the store. We are looking at hybrid cars now and will do what we can to save energy and money. Biking for us is the way to go and or walking. We get our exercise and have fun too.

I’ve always been a fan of the speed limit for safety amd now it makes sense for conservation.

I have been driving 60mph on interstate for a good while. I drive a Honda Civic Hybrid. I get 50 mpg and enjoy the scenery. Maybe I don’t have the stressful jobs and home life some have so I can take advantage of leaving earlier for work in order to drive slower and for this I am truly grateful. This is a beautiful planet we are visiting and to be able to ‘alow down and smell the roses’ is a joy.

The world is a-changing. We all need to conserve as much as we can. Unfortunately I have to drive to work, too far to bike it. But I will watch for carpooling opportunities!
