Grab a cup to go
Unless you recycle, disposable coffee cups and plastic lids pile up in our nation’s landfills. Next time you get your daily cup of joe, challenge yourself to bring a reusable mug from home.

I’ve been challenging myself and others too! If I go to a coffee place or deli, I ask if they use “compostable” cups, napkins, straws, take out containers, lids, etc. If they do, I know I can get a take out order, otherwise if they don’t serve on washable dinnerware, I go elsewhere. Starbucks uses recycled paper with a low-density polyethylene plastic liner in their hot beverage cups (this cup is not recycleable as a result). Most compostables are made from sugar cane, corn, and sometimes potatoes. You can even use the internet and find websites to purchase these items for home entertaining, everything from stir sticks, straws, cups with lids, plates, cutlery, etc.

I like the Tupperware products made for taking beverages. The Commuter Mug is fantastic to take coffee or hot tea in. My husband and I both have ones we leave in the car. I also use their Insulated Tumbler at the office. We have an ice and water machine; I just fill it up in the morning and it stays cold most of the day.
