Test for air leaks
Leaky homes use more energy. Here’s a neat trick for testing yours: hold a lit incense stick near windows, doors, electrical boxes, plumbing fixtures, outlets, ceiling fixtures and attic hatches. If the smoke moves horizontally instead of rising, you may have found a leak that requires sealing. This weekend, challenge yourself to identify all the air leaks in your home.
(We’ve given you 2 days for this challenge. When you log your progress, you only need to log as many days as you think are applicable.)
I hate paying my electric bill.
My windows have beem upgraded to double insulated with uv block.
My doors are steel with storm doors attached and recently weatherized.
We also weatherized my attic enterances, I have 2.
Under my house my pipes are wrapped and a vapor barrior placed. I have vents in the crawspace.
My mother taught me this 28 years ago, to wash in cold water and to only run full loads. this is challending now since it is only my husband and i,but i try to wait until my husband is on his last uniform!!
