banana!
I too have a heavy sweet tooth. I have found that watermelon is a wonderful craving buster. It is sweet, juicy, crunchy and very good for you! Frozen grapes (both the green and red ones) are also very good. Above all though, if you want that piece of chocolate, have it (but make it count). Buy a single piece of really good chocolate and don’t feel guilty about it! I work part-time for a nutritionist and the one thing she ALWAYS tells me is: There are no inherently “bad” foods- but there are foods that are better fuel choices for your body than others. Just be aware of portion sizes and daily nutrition requirements.
I’m just Curious. How many Calories should be in a snack? Also How many snacks should a person have in a day?
I just bought two boxes of kashi cherry dark chocolate TLC bars, I’m going to bring a bar to work with me tonight for a snack.
Try making some chocolate ice cream using a can of organic coconut milk, a few tbsp of cocoa powder, and a few tbsp of agave nectar. Blend them up well in your blender and either freeze in an ice-cream maker or in a bowl until it’s just soft (or do like my mom and freeze it in ice-cube trays and take out just 4-5 cubes for a snack!). This should satisfy your chocolate and ice cream cravings with NO nasties in it!
As for my healthy snacks, I like to do a bit of sprouted granola, lots of strawberries, and soymilk – with a cup of warm tea. I also like to do a crunchy apple with a bit of peanut butter and some raisins. Yummy!!!
As many people on this particular challenge, I always want to have sweets, and pig out on them, i need help! Once I get started on chocolate or ice cream, there’s no stopping me. Anybody have any advice?
I have a pear and apple sliced up into small cubes, with two tablespoons of penutbutter topped of with Kashi GoLean Almond Honey Flax cereal for crunch factor. D-lish.

A few years ago I switched to whole grains. I only eat snack foods with 3g of fiber or more. They taste great and make me feel wonderful. Herr’s has whole grain pretzel sticks which are great and 4g fiber per serving!

Today I had oatmeal sweenetend with honey for breakfast, and an apple as a snack before classes. It helps you concentrate better, especially knowing you had something healthy and filling.
Help! Whenever I make a committment to not eat sweets, the sweets seem sweeter, chocolate much more chocolatier, all of it more appealing. I committed yesterday and I ate worse yesterday than I’ve eaten in a long time! Any advice?
i went to our local whole food shop yesterday. picked up some raw almonds tosted them myself and lightly salted them with sea salt while they were hot.the extra salt fell off when i shook them before putting them the container. but they are slightly salty and great right after they come out of the oven.. yum
Today I had craisins and almonds for a healthy afternoon snack.
Today is the first day of me making healthy food choices rather than dieting. I realize I must want to do this and it should come naturally rather than forced. IF I feel like falling off the wagon so to speak I’m hoping that this site will help remind me that I want a healthy body!!
This afternoon I really wanted chocolate! Instead I mixed blueberries with chopped fresh apple. Now I have no sweet craving and I feel good for not eating the chocolate.
