Admit you were wrong

Knowing you are wrong is one thing. Actually admitting it is something else. It takes a lot of courage and humility to step up and acknowledge when you’re mistaken.

Today, think back on a recent situation when you knew you were definitely in the wrong but you didn’t take responsibility for your mistake. Consider whether the circumstances warrant an acknowledgment. Perhaps you recently had an argument with someone and left things on bad terms. Or maybe a situation at work left you feeling incompetent and afraid of admitting your mistake.

If appropriate, make an attempt to reconcile with the other person. In a situation that can’t be rectified, simply acknowledge to yourself that you could’ve acted differently and resolve to be more honest about your mistakes in the future.
