Eat more fruits and veggies
Most people know there are numerous health benefits in a diet rich in fruits and vegetables. Naturally providing vitamins, minerals, phytochemicals and fiber, fruits and veggies offer a lot. But when you’re busy, it’s daunting to keep track of exactly how many servings you’re eating every day (what’s a ‘serving’ anyway?).
This week, buy some extra fruits and veggies for your fridge and make sure to eat a little everyday so they’re all gone by the end of the week. Remember, for someone eating a 2,000 calorie diet, the recommended daily serving amount (5-9) is equal to 2 cups of fruit and 2½ cups of vegetables — everyday!

I went to see the Simpsons Movie earlier tonight and, instead of getting candy and soda at the counter, I first stopped by the Quickie Mart and picked up a bag of mixed dried fruit (dried apricots, apple slices, pears, prunes, etc.)
Yesterday I went to see a movie and I didn’t buy a bunch of candy and soda…instead I went to a store and bought a bag of mixed dried fruit (dried apricots, apple slices, prunes, etc.). It was the same thing as eating fruit snacks except that it was real fruit. I still had popcorn but unsalted/unbuttered and a bottle of water instead of soda.
Deriklalala that’s some serious will power but I bet you probably felt way better after the movie anyway.
Do you ever get really sick at the move theatre? Why do we do that to ourselves? And really it was only just a little bit of will power and I saved a lot of money. The dried fruit thing took the place of the candy I usually get. Here’s something else I did. Yesterday around snack time, while my wife and in-laws were having cake, I made my own trail mix: in a box of raisin that was almost empty I added almonds, walnuts, cranberries, and pretzels…closed the lid and shook…then I had myself a fairly healthy snack
The Simpsons movie would make me sick, not the snacks at the theater.
Deriklala, did you have to hide your food to get it in? I’ve been caught bringing my own food into theaters. I usually just buy water there.
For the last couple of months, I’ve been eating a no sugar added diet mostly with vegetables and fruit. I feel a lot better. I have noticed since I started adding veggies to my diet my health has gotten better. Even my eyesight improved greatly. The only thing I have to say is to WATCH THE FRUIT. Too much fruit can be as bad as eating too much sugar, especially dried fruit like raisins, prunes, etc. I was gaining a lot of weight until I cut down on my raisins and prunes.
i hope i live up to my hopes for myself. i’ve really been trying lately so maybe this will help me stick to my already there goal .
steamed veggie mix with supper tonight
2 kiwis and 1 potato!
Organic carrot sticks and an organic Golden Delicious apple for me today!!!
An apple, a cup of pineapple, 1/2 cup yellow beans and 1/2 cup brussel sprouts within my meals today!
Boys, with all this fruit and fiber is anyone getting lots of gas? Beano does not work.
Been trying a new fruit every couple weeks — really fancy blood oranges, but am not so sure of red currants. Also, brussel sprouts are awesome roasted with a little olive oil.
Had my banana and an orange today. Saving my frozen fruit (strawberries, blueberries, grapes and banana) “sorbet” for later. I guess that should take care of fruit for a day! YUMMY
I ate a banana, pineapple slices, arugula on my sandwich, brussel sprouts, and potatoes
I had oatmeal a banana and grapejuice for breakfast
Today I had 1/2 a banana in my breakfast smoothie, an organic fruit twist at lunch (equal to one serving of fruit), pineapple in the afternoon and strawberries tonight. I love fruit!!!! And I also included veggies: edamame at lunch, carrots & a veggie burger at dinner.
