We love eating foods that are at the peak of their flavor and nutrients. After all, when fresh whole food is naturally delicious it entices you to eat it more often. When is food in its optimal state? When it’s in season, of course. What better time to eat some winter foods? Today, make an effort to incorporate a winter fruit or veggie into one of your meals. Eating seasonally is the first step towards eating a more nutritious, balanced diet. Here are some winter foods you might enjoy: • Avocados • Broccoli • Brussels sprouts • Cabbage • Cauliflower • Celery root • Chard • Chinese cabbage • Chicory • Collard greens • Fennel • Grapefruit • Kale • Oranges • Pears • Spinach • Sweet potatoes • Tangerines

I love all fruits, but when in season they not only taste better, but are less expensive.

I’m using fresh baby spinach and organic greens in my cooking and salads. suprisingly, my kids love it.

I am trying to have at least one meal a day with a winter vegatable. My favorites have been kale, colard greens, cabbage and sweet potatoes.

It is so refreshing to see fruits and veggies suggested as part of a daily routine, actual suggestions numbered out, and people responding affirmatively! I live in a rural area, and people here work hard, drink hard, and smoke hard. Not the best combination for clarity of mind and physical heatlh. I can’t tell you how thrilling it is to see an online community, and a brand-name (no less) embracing a healthy, practical lifestyle, and even living here, I can take part in it. I mentioned in another comment that my local Wal-Mart stocks Kashi products, and that I was really excited to see them among the abyss of cheeze-itz and processed who-knows-what, and now to see all of the other content here, I feel positive. Other people eat fruit! Other people eat grains and greens! It’s not just me! Isn’t it silly (and great) that just a little positive feedback can go such a long way!? Thanks guys! Keep eating healthfully; your body, mind, and spirit will thank you for it!
