Be the last in line

During the holidays, overflowing buffet tables piled high with goodies make it difficult to watch calories. That’s why it’s important to make a plan for visiting them.

One way to enjoy buffets is to survey the offerings ahead of time and avoid piling the food on your plate until you’ve seen everything on offer. (Once the food’s on your plate, you’ll feel obligated to eat it.)

Another great tactic is to be the last in line. (By the time you get to the food, a lot of the really unhealthy foods may already be gone.)

This holiday season the next time you’re at a buffet, challenge yourself to be the last one in line. When you finally get your turn, make an effort to choose foods that are high in water content and fiber (think fruit- and veggie-based dishes, green salads, and light soups). Remember, it’s OK to sample lots of items – just control your portions.

Oh, this is a great idea.
I also focus on wine and diet Coke rather than carrying a plate of food around.

I like this idea…im often tempted to just dive right in. May be tough to avoid the junk, but i think i can do it…im determined.

I try to load up on veggies so there isn’t too much room on my plate. Sometimes I succeed….
