Know your portions

When we’re hungry, our eyes are often bigger than our bellies and we tend to overeat. That’s why it’s so important to know what healthy-sized portions are for our favorite foods…and to savor those portions slowly. In fact, portion control is one important factor in staying trim.

Today, learn about your how much you’re eating at a typical meal by getting out your measuring cups and spoons each time you eat. For example, during breakfast pour your cereal into a bowl like you usually do. Then use measuring cups to pour a second bowl, following the serving size on the package’s Nutrition Facts Panel. This way, the next time you eat cereal you’ll know what an actual serving size looks like in your bowl.

Challenge yourself today to measure the portions of all your meals.
