Make a snack menu
There are so many nutritious and delicious combinations of snack foods. Oftentimes, though, when we’re hungry and on-the-go we grab the first thing available, which is not always the healthiest option.
A great way to change this habit is to make a list of possible snacks that you can easily prepare in advance and take with you. For example, trail mix with cereal, nuts, and dried fruit.
Today, write a list of 6-12 of your favorite snacks to make on the fly. (For healthy snack ideas, check out the American Dietetic Association’s suggestions for the Perfect Snack.)

i made up a list of tasty fruits & some white rice :)
Made a list of 6 items to pull together.
I have a little tub with sugar/cinnamon. I like the pre packaged all natural no sugar added applesauces (you can get great applesauce from your local apple orchard). And I choose how much sugar I add. Yuuuuummmy!
A great snack for taking to work is 1/2 fat-free ricotta cheese with 1/2 blueberries/raspberries/strawberries with 1 tbsp chopped pecans. I also take 1 cup grapes with 1 stick of string cheese.

At work, as a snack before lunch, I’m going to have a Kashi bar, dried fruit, or an apple. Sometimes coworkers bring in cookies, cake, or bagels with spreads. With healthy snacks on hand, I can resist them. I’m glad I came to this site. It’s good to have company while trying to improve. God Bless!!
I always have an apple or box of rasins with me. They are some of the original power foods.
I eat a cup of Kashi Vive or Goodfriends every night with a big glass of vitamin enhanced water!!! My digestive system thanks you!!!!
Here are my 6 favorite snacks:
1. Granola bars (some can have as few as 90 calories and still have chocolate in them!)
2. Strawberries (I LOVE strawberries. As soon as I buy them, I cut the stems/leaves off and put them in a container in my fridge. It’s easy to throw a few in a baggie or smaller container and take them on the go!)
3. Apple slices with peanut butter (again, prepare ahead and they’re ready to go)
4. Homemade Trail Mix (since trail mix is expensive, I buy dried fruit and add almonds and a few chocolate chips to it, this is a cheap way out!)
5. String cheese (one of my favorites! low-fat part-skim is only 60 cal/stick, so if I’m REALLY hungry, I’ll eat 2 and not feel bad about it)
6. 100 calorie pop corn (some 100 cal packs don’t fill me up at all, but popcorn tends to fill me up more than the others!)
It’s great to keep a list on the refrigerator for those mindless, need a snack, moments.
i love kashi foods and cereals
I actually can’t wait to start this list since I was just talking about this issue in my blog. I’m always randomly on the run. Dropping kids off at school and instead of coming home I head someplace else and leave with no snacks at all. I use to keep fruits and granola bars in the car during those times but the fruits spoil so quickly and I end up eating the granola bars like candy. I need to find something else and hopefully this will help.
A healthy snack shopping list is a great idea. I am always rummaging through my cupboards trying to find something to snack on while at the same time avoiding my stockpile of dark chocolate.
