Identify a meaningful gift

It feels great to give a gift that shows you are paying attention. The best gifts are gestures of truly showing loved ones you see them. Sometimes, gifts even help people move toward an important (or forgotten) part of themselves. Do you have a family member who used to play piano and gave it up because they got too busy? Give them piano lessons. What about a friend who has always wanted to learn how to cook? A set of new pots and pans might inspire them to experiment with new recipes.

This weekend, set aside time to think about people you love. What gifts would really inspire them? If you don’t know, make an effort to bring up the subject the next time you talk. Plan to give them the gift for Christmas.

I’m buying my 55 year old father 3 months worth of satellite TV. Bedides his work and family, he cares more about politics and world news than anyone I know..but he’s stuck watching local television. I’ve decided to give him CNN and Cspan back, even if just for a little while.
