Practice generosity

This week, make an effort to practice generosity without expecting anything in return. Give something away everyday. It could be as simple as a piece of fruit to a friend, $5 to a homeless person, money to a favorite cause…. The possibilities are endless.

I have always volunteered at Nursing Homes, but this year (2008) I plan to reach out more to the community. I know that I have talents to share, and I will do so willingly.

I donate money to our church for the homeless. Doing something even if it’s small always makes me feel good about myself, and it reflects how people see you as a person.

I paid for a stranger’s train ticket on Friday. He was already on the train and realized he didn’t have any money. The cost to me was only $9, but the reward was an incredible feeling of good will. He wanted my name so he could pay me back, but I told him I hadn’t done it with that expectation. I asked him instead to “pay it forward” some day.
